Elvis: The Complete 1956 Nashville Sessions CD The Bootleg Series contains the complete Nashville sessions from 1956 on one CD, including all The Masters and all the known outtakes PLUS 2 Interviews and 3 radio commercials from 1956, including an RCA Victor 'Music/Elvis' radio commercial (previously unreleased on CD). And let it be said loud and clear from the start, that it was indeed worth the wait as this is a magnificent album and by far the best Follow That Dream release so far. The album contains all the songs recorded by Elvis in his final two studio recording sessions, which took place in the so called Jungle Room at Graceland (hence the title) on February 2-7 and on October 29-30, 1976, which were originally released on the albums From Elvis Presley Boulevard and Moody Blue.
The results of the Stax sessions would be collected somewhat haphazardly. The tracks were split up and released as two separate LPs: "Good Times" in 1974 and "Promised Land" in 1975. Though the Stax material would yield Elvis a trio of Top 20 hits, the recordings were lost in a deluge of product that included yet another live album and the ill-conceived spoken word effort, "Having Fun with Elvis on Stage."
This recording is the first of Elvis's many albums that he made for RCA. The company took a major risk in releasing a full album from this new "rock & roll" artist, as teenagers were more likely to buy 45 rpm singles than a full LP. The Elvis Presley album included recording sessions Elvis did for RCA and five previously unissued songs recorded earlier with Sun Records. After the album's release in March 1956, Elvis Presley eventually went on to become the first rock & roll album to reach number one on national record sales charts, and RCA's first million-dollar-earning pop album.
