Political acts of early muslims:
Haykal tries to reflect on the political acts of the Prophet (s.a.s)
and early Muslims. Unfortunately, he uses Nasser Era socialist socio-
political concepts to do this job, rather than using socio-political
concepts of the Qur'an, like "Ummat/Mellat/Deen/Qawm/Shae". In general
it is worthy to read the book up to the last few chapters for its
collection of historic facts. Haykal in his last chapters tries to
philosophize about the history, present and future of Islamic
Civilisation, still using socialist socio-political concepts. He
erroneously thinks that the owner and founder of the Western
Civilisation are Chiristians such that Islamic Civilisation has to
challenge it. Haykal also puts all the blame of the degeneration of
Islamic Civilisation to non-arabs, so-called converts to Islam.
Although he is right to say Muslims are not living Islam as it was
conceived by Early Muslims, he should not exclude Arabs from the
responsibility of the degeneration of the religion. He shouldn't
forget that others learnt this religion from Arabs. In fact, they are
the first to degenerate this religion like the Jews did it. In Haykal
words now we cannot see any difference between Jews and Ourselves. I
wish this book to be re-written using the non-polluted socio-political
concepts which we have been thought by the Prophet of the God (s.a.s)
via the Qur'an - to reflect the real glory of his efforts.
