Hi,

I am planning to develop a custom StarUML extension for Kubernetes architecture diagrams and would like to confirm whether the approach is technically feasible before proceeding.

The goal is as follows:

  • Use the official SVG icons provided by the Kubernetes community on GitHub (https://github.com/kubernetes/community/tree/master/icons) to define custom nodes representing k8s resources (e.g., Pod, Deployment, Service, Ingress, etc.)
  • Define frame elements that serve as boundary containers
  • Establish a structural relationship between frames and nodes, so that nodes can be contained within or connected to a frame

Could you confirm whether this is within the scope of what the StarUML extension API currently supports?

Thank you.

Hi Wally,

It seems difficult to implement using a StarUML extension if you need to support new notations or define new elements. While it is possible to link icons to stereotypes, it will likely fall short of achieving the results you desire.

Thank you,
