Hello,

I saw the newest version of StarUML, V6.2.2 and I wanted to upgrade my installation which is on 6.1.0.

I did the upgrade but the XMI export doesn't work!! That is the most important feature I need so I was freaking out. Fortunately, I still had the 6.1.0 in my downloads folder so I could downgrade it and have XMI export again.

Here are the details:
  • Issue Title XMI Export doesn't work on 6.2.2. It renders StartUML unusable.
  • Environment Ubuntu 22.04, StarUML V6.2.2
  • Action Performed:
  1. Install XMI Export if not already.
  2. Create a simple Statechart diagram. Statechart only. Delete the default class diagram.
  3. File > Export > XMI Export ...
  4. Select location
  5. Write the file name.
  6. Click "Save"
  • Expected Result - I expect the XMI to be generated in the selected folder.
  • Actual Result - Nothing happens. The XMI file is not generated. I can't interact with my diagram anymore. The toolbar is still usable and I can close the software by clicking on the x button but since I can't interact with the diagram I have to close the software and open it again.
  • Supplements (optional, but strongly required)
    • There are no errors shown in the  Debug -> Show DevTools and no messages in the console. It just stops working.
    • It happens with any StateChart diagram. I attach the one I'm using for this report.
This is an image of the software after I click "Save" and it stops responding to any diagram interaction:

As you can see there are no errors and no console output either.

Hi,

Thank you for your feedback.

This issue is only happening on Linux distributions. Windows and macOS work fine, so if you're in a hurry, you can work on other operating systems. Here is the related thread: https://groups.google.com/g/staruml/c/cypJj8zk2Ek

Thank you,
