I talked with Pete & David earlier tonight and the topic of a Javascript themed presentation night popped up, again. We've been talking about it for months and I think we just need to pencil something in and get the ball rolling.
Some topics I'd love to cover
- Javascript toolkits (Dojo, jQuery, Prototype, YUI)
- Serverside Javascript (Jaxer, mod_js)
- JS/JSON DBs (Persevere, CouchDB)
- State of JS Engines (Rhino, SpiderMonkey, Tamarin, V8, Squirrelfish, JScript, etc...)
- Hacks & Techniques (AJAX vs Comet, cross-domain proxies, JSONP)
I'd also like to consider this the first meeting of a Kansas City Javascript Users Group. I've been thinking about starting one for a while, but never had a catalyst to actually get things going.
So, just to throw a date out there, Wednesday May 20th work?
