What do you guys think about having a video clip night in the next few
weeks to start utilizing the space at ECJC? The thought is to pick a
night to watch a video clip such as a TED presentation or a case-study
video as a group, after which discussions can be held. Pizza, beer and
mint cupcakes can be served to take care of the video watching
munchies.

The goal of this is to start holding low-preparation events at the
space in order to meet.

Sounds good.  A designer-guy I work with is hooked on TED videos, so can prolly convince him to come.  Next Tuesday?

I think that's a great idea - though Tu/Th don't work for me.

Do we foresee another chatting/drinking/planning session on the horizon? I think it would be helpful (for me, at least) to really flesh out how we want to / plan on using the space and get some dates & activities scheduled in the near future. The event Steven proposed is a great place to start...

Some questions I have in general:

1) what is our goal for the space - do we want to attract others to use the space as well? just for us to hold sessions, presentations, etc?
2) how do we plan on using the space / our group - are we planners? collaborators? regular meetup-ers? event organizers? all of the above?

On a somewhat related note on the subject of paint for the space - I have a call into the KC Art Institute to see if any student wants to strut their stuff at our place - murals, paintings, etc. Which got me thinking...we could potentially use the space (at first) as a gallery to host local artists work. This gets us nice looking walls (at no cost) and offers the artist a place to show off their work. We bring them publicity by the traffic that comes into StartupKC and sees their work; they give us publicity by telling their friends about events we host at our space showing their work. Anyhow, just a thought. There's a local artist Jeff Hanson - he's 15, legally blind and does awesome abstract work. Could be cool to use his work to cover our walls at our big first event??   http://www.jeffreyowenhanson.com/gallery.html

I'll send an update on the KCAI status under separate cover when I hear back from them.

I agree with Carrie that another chatting/drinking/planning session is needed. Since we met on a Monday night, how does Monday the 30th at 5:30 sound?

This upcoming Wednesday at 5:30 I am planning on attending the Open House session at OfficePort, http://officeportkc.com/.  Thanks Hillary for posting it.  My plan is to checkout the space to get a feel of the culture there.  Let me know if you guys are planning to attend too.

Also.. I still need to head out to Office Surplus Store this week.
