What things would you like to see on our site's Job Board?

My initial thoughts are to have the Job Board be a local tool for
web / creative professionals to find companies / startups seeking to
hire them without too much "corporate" noise that is commonly found on
Monster or Craigslist.

Ideally, the opportunities will be categorized by:

+ PAID (Full-time, Part-time/Freelance)
+ EQUITY (Partnerships, Co-founder)
+ INTERNSHIPS

The PAID gigs will require a fee to post for a period of time – for
example, $30 for 30 days. While the other two types of gigs can be
posted for free.

Would love to hear your thoughts!

Hi All,

Mike - great idea with that. I've been needing something like that with thebridalboutique.com and think that could be a great way to recruit quality help.

Mike,

I like the approach to differentiate from Craigslist et al using categories. $30 for 30-days seems reasonable for paid jobs, and making it free for equity or internships is a good idea. I'm assuming people will be able to follow new job posts via RSS?

Best,
Bill

Couple thoughts...

If you haven't already started coding it, could totally re-purpose
what I made for www.TopSpotMarkeplace.com and get this is out fast.

Another thing I wanted to do with the previous idea, was that people
could put this on their on webiste easily, to either support it, or
get an affiliate comission if anyone signs up form their site.
Check out In http://www.internetlifestyle.com/blog/ and then click
marketplace on the right hand-side...that was the the idea Facebook
like pop-up window.
That could help it go a little more viral...if you wanted it too.

then obviously a bigger goal could be to let other cities use it as
well.

Just throwing some ideas out there.

Are you saying that SocialMatchbox.com (Baltimore based, but also
covers DC and NoVA startup and web communities) and StartupHire.com
(NoVA based), and Potomac Tech Wire (DC based) are not alternatives to
Craigslist? SocialMatchbox and StartupHire are both free. There are
50,000+ job boards - you should use your pixels and hours to do
something that is more creative and beneficial. There are too many
places to post jobs already.

"Use my pixels and hours to do something that is more creative and
beneficial." Thanks for the personal advice. Let me know when you're
considering a redesign for SocialMatchbox. I'd LOVE to offer some
recommendations for ya.

The sites you listed are fantastic for those looking for your average
part-time/full-time tech job. The job board we'll be building will
suffice the need of our community – early stage, boostrappy startups.
I hear what you're saying. There's no sense in reinventing the
wheel. That is unless the vehicle you're wheeling-up is much leaner
than the rest. That's definitely the case with Startup Baltimore and
for that fact, we are going to be designing custom functions that meet
our leaner needs.

Creatively and Beneficially Yours,

Mike

A job board feature that might be interesting - Comments section by job hunters and others.

I think that there are many employers and/or team builders that could use some advice from the community on the position, whether it makes sense as presented, basically giving the job poster feedback and a better prospective in the marketplace.

Don't know if that works, but it may be a feature that works well both for job hunter and job poster.

Gordon,

Cool idea! It's kind of like Angie's List or Yelp meet the Job
Search. I'm not sure how much of an impact this would have on
seemingly unheard of startups, but for big biz that's hiring, it could
be pretty helpful.

What are your thoughts about cross-referencing comments that were
listed about Company A across all postings that Company A lists in the
future?
