[Private Transport ‘Horizon Star’]

It felt as if Tank had been gone from DS6 for years, when it had only been a few weeks, and this private transport ship wasn’t helping matters any.

On the plus side the incognito marine, travelling under an assumed alias set up by Treyla, had time to find out everything Starfleet knew about Lieutenant Junior Grade Rekelen, and some things that even Starfleet didn’t know.

The cardassian woman was a wanted criminal by most major governments and seemed to survive by the skin of here teeth and by the merest help of friends all around. A crafty player, the former officer was an even better black ops network operator than Tank had been, setting up contacts spanning two quadrants who helped keep her free and in supply.

Apparantly she had been part of the Cardassian underground and a student of Professor Natima, in 2370 she was forced to flee because of her political views and eventually found herself taking a commission in Starfleet.

She was promoted quickly to the junior grade of Lieutenant and put in charge of an operations department. Then things started to go south, she was convicted of a trumped up charge of conspiracy and misappropriation. Trumped up because of some interesting data held behind a top secret firewall that showed actually it had been a different officer who had conducted something illegal, but she had taken the fall.

But Rekelen wasn’t about to give over easily, she gave up her commission and became a freelancer once again working with underground movements, political dissidents, and straight up mercenaries across the breadth of known space. It was rumored, and confirmed by three independent sources, that Rekelen brokered the deal that led to the Breen defence of the Ferengi, with a hefty profit margin for herself.

She’d make an excellent Chief Operations Officer, and just the right sort of person to do the job outside of normal channels, if only Tank could find her.

He went back to reading his PADDs for the umpteenth time, hoping to find a new clue.

Off:
Yay
