(XO Quarters, USS Excalibur)
The quarters were small by most standards, but combat officers in Starfleet had long ago gotten used to worse and Tank solaced himself that at least with these quarters he could stretch, work out and even enjoy company without being too cramped. Of course, that took leaving at his own free will for granted, the scars of his recent incarceration still working their way from his system.
He’d quickly realized that the systems aboard the Excalibur were top of the line, they were some of the most powerful computer processors in the quadrant, but even that much raw power would have been useless without a skilled operator. That was when he had paid a call on one of their very first crew acquisitions.
Lieutenant Treyla was an engineering marvel and a former subversive, she was especially suited for their current operations, but she did have some sort of past with Bob Martens. It was Treyla who had set up the powerful computer databanks of the Excalibur to filter and process all the data of the DS6 internal scanners, something the station couldn’t even do without heavy modification.
To her, it was a simple exercise with so much power at her disposal all it took was the proper algorithms and the system was a dream. So Tank asked her to help him with his first order of business, confirming what his contact had said, that Admiral Denton was dead and had been assassinated.
The first part was easy, the second less so, but after a few hours Treyla was absolutely radiating with a smug swagger from the entry way. Without saying a word she handed a PADD to Chandler who thumbed through it.
At first he was impressed, she had managed to not only corroborate the data Tank had given her, but identified Williams as his contact and gone through a dozen other key points and players involved. She had come as close to proof as you could get without actually being there, showing that Denton had been assassinated.
Then Jean was blown away by her adeptness, the casual mention that half a dozen other contacts had been lost was enough for her to start a side pot search looking for any related info. Her computer savvy had identified not only two dozen possible targets with high likelihood; it had flagged four other 90% positive targets that had lost contact. As he flipped through the pages of the PADD he noted time and again the thoroughness of the information and the extreme levels of exactness that her work compiled.
“Holy! Lieutenant, this is amazing stuff.”
Treyla dimmed very slightly but still looked pleased with herself, she took great pride in her work, but was suspicious of praise. “That’s just the beginning; I should have a second batch of information to you within another 6 hours.”
Tank nodded, “Take this to the Captain, I’m sure he’ll want to talk to you about it as well.”
With that she left and turned down the corridor, presumably en-route to see Bob Martens.
