[Overhead]

Bob quickly put the scout into a roll as more phaser fire laced out from the shuttle behind him. It was a matter of keeping himself in a position to actually make a move before being blown into little smoking bits. They had obviously pissed someone off enough to cause problems, and the shuttle that was currently tailing him was anything but standard issue.

A phaser blast bounced off of the minimal shielding the scout had an a console exploded behind him. Obviously it had seen better days, but Bob said a silent prayer before he tossed the shuttle down the surface below.

Watching the surface come to greet him Martens was able to pick out one of the landed shuttles and quickly sent off two more micro torpedoes which impacted and caused a moment’s amount of chaos. Diversions, distractions and damage … the three D’s of air support.

“Alright, here we go!”

The vessel was tossed back into the air almost as quickly as it was falling and the inertial dampeners worked overtime to keep things intact as it pulled out of its descent and the shuttle followed suit, shooting off more phaser fire and making more impacts against the scout.

Fingers flying over the console in front of him Bob put the scout into a quick loop and ended up behind the shuttle, if only for a moment in order to let off his own phaser cannons against his enemies and see them veer off quickly down to the area below.

Now the tables had been turned, and Bob dared a glance at the sensors to see what was happening below … and it was readily apparent what was happening. Three life signs were making their way through the bush with one following as quickly as possible, trying to track them: obviously Tank.

However, five more were also doing the same and seemed to be moving with more speed. Obviously their initial distraction was now taken care of. That group split into two groups with two of the five taking a look at the crash site.

“Tank, you have two guys sitting at the site right now. Hope you have something planned for them,” Bob said as he got his eyes back on the task at hand and found the shuttle making a buzz run at the group ahead.

TANK

“I’m going to provide as much cover as possible, but … “ Martens was cut short as another console exploded behind him. Phaser fire riddled the scout from behind as Bob looked to see what was going on.

“Nevermind, I’ve got more company. I’ll try and hold them off, find them and get back to me when you do.”

TANK

The landing site lit up with explosives and Bob grinned as he dove back down and headed back out to sea for a moment to try and draw the shuttle away from the rest. The odds had been temporarily changed for the better, but that meant little right then.

Wash from the ocean sprayed up behind the scout as the shuttle tried to make a diving attack from above. Expecting this, Bob tossed the nose up and shot more spray into the air, temporarily buying himself a little bit of time.

“Obviously this guy is flying by instinct for the shuttle wouldn’t have even flinched,” Bob said aloud as he tried to tack down some power levels before the vessel exploded with him in it. With the power levels back within the warning labels, Bob swung the count upside down and pulled it into a reverse loop toward the surface to try and get behind the shuttle, but the enemy pilot was too quick.

Too quick in the sense that he overcompensated and did not pay attention to how close to the ocean they were currently maneuvering. The shuttle skimmed on the surface and the pilot automatically went into panic mode, trying to keep control of the shuttle as one of its nacelles was partially submerged into the ocean.

Bob quickly brought the scout behind the shuttle and got ready to fire off his salvo when the entire shuttle submerged itself and didn’t come up. Checking the sensors, all power had gone dead … the pilot had committed himself to the depths.

Then the warning klaxons sounded as power levels spiked from the battle.

“Tank … I’m going to try and land this thing at the crash site. I’ll be coming your way,” Bob said as he got to work keeping the ship afloat long enough to bring it to a clearing and then settled it down as quickly and gently as possible just as all of the power levels spiked and the ship killed itself.

It landed with a thud on the ground and Bob shut things off quickly and grabbed his gear. Strapping the phaser rifle to his back so that he could more easily run Bob set down the rear hatch and got to work. Not knowing exactly where everyone was, Bob looked around the crash site and could see the crater where the shuttle had been before.

Martens surveyed the area and quickly found an intelligence agent crawling away from the scene and propping himself up against some debris to get a shot off at Bob.

Setting the phaser to heavy stun, Bob leveled his phaser at the man and knocked him out before anything else could be done. The other agent was nowhere to be seen … more than likely flowing in the gentle breeze of the day.

Bob checked his tricorder, was able to ascertain the direction of the other groups of agents and got off in a quick jog. Hopefully he wouldn’t be too late.

TO BE CONTINUED …
