Since I said things should be in different threads, I’m putting my money where my mouth is and setting them up lol

This thread is to discuss the future of Axel & OH1.

My first question:
Would Richard, Rich and Kevin like me to spread the word that the DS need help, or are we planning on shutting them down?

While I’m here, I should add that Probe 815 is also inactive. I would be happy to reopen that should player interest arise but atm I don’t have enough interested players to run that group unfortunately.

To my knowledge (please someone correct me if I am wrong), current active DS are;

- Cromwell
- Prodigy
- Stask
- Discovery?

Thank you Tabitha.

OH1 hasn't had posts since 2022 when I had to step back because of demands of work and family. I am ok with shelving OH1, considering it a historic DS, updating links, etc.

Rich and Kevin stepped back and I don't think anyone stepped up to take command.

Discovery has 8 posts since January 2025. I won't speak for Caleb and Sam on it's status. Hope and Alistair are the two remaining players?

This is a very tough topic really,   

As expressed we have several DSs no longer actively posting (of which Axel is one).   In my opinion, all effort should be given to maintain the current functioning DSs vs attempting to split players attention.   Maybe I'm wrong and some can handle it.     But, it's no shock that ST:B is shrinking in on itself.   

While I don't, necessarily want Axel to close, I wouldn't want anything to happen to other  groups.  Those actively participating need to decide what is best for their player base.   If anyone wants to continue it, I'll work with them to the best of my ability.  

Currently, this is how it stands.   Axel was last seen inside a nebula with some of it's cre succumbing to the effects of a mind altering device, recovered from a derelict vessel.   My head cannon says that they may have all succumbed.   The ship maybe lost; a victim of the perils of deep space life.

If there is anyone who wishes to try and run Axel, the ship may be found with partial to no crew remaining.   A story could be developed from there.   

Anyway, it's been my utmost pleasure participating in Star Trek: Borderlands since 2008.    I stand ready to assist if that need arises.

If the remaining players want to join S'Task, Cromwell and Prodigy, they will be warmly welcomed. 

S'Task is about to start a new adventure and characters don't need to be Romulans to join us.

I would second what Drika said and add that if you have any players who have a character they like and want to keep, I could almost definitely find a way to integrate them on Prodigy; we have a very varied mix of characters so I’m cool with basically anything. 

S’Task and Cromwell need players more though (Stask especially I think) so I would recommend reaching out to Dev and Drika first and we can take any characters who don’t fit in. 

Prodigy does have some civilian allies / trading partners (for example Duuuuude, the Union, Sylva) so I could even potentially work Axel herself into the DS as a sibling ship of sorts if that is something that you want, but it would be as one game. 

For OH1, I have a suggestion;

Maybe we could keep it as a place all DS can visit (similar to the DFAs Babylon and Visak’a)? I’m happy to play Station as an NPC when people are using it if that’s of any help.

Hi, all.

I will confirm what others have eluded to that Discovery is inactive. We have a core group that are still in contact. The command team is as stated earlier: Myself (CO), Finley (XO), Sam (PR), Hope (PR). 

We've discussed recently the prospect of getting things rolling on a small scale again, but the drive doesn't seem to be there. I'm not ready to scrap it just yet.

Cromwell can keep Nathan (@The Book Doctor) on as PR, we can shift him to S'Task as needed, but I don't think we have enough players to actually fulfill both DSs atm.

First off: I expect Piper's promotion to pass easily.

Two notes:

The vote will be public. But, if anyone wants to approach me privately to express their vote against Piper, they can do so.

With all of the uncertainty of who is representing which DS, this can look like vote-rigging. If anyone has any concerns about it, please also reach out to me. I don't believe that is happening and this isn't a motion where I would be especially concerned. I just wanted to note it.

Mary has been having issues with her emails with GoogleGroups. 

We don’t know why, but I’ve been forwarding Cromwell and Prodigy’s posts to her because she isn’t receiving them (but is able to post out). 

So it might be worth CCing her in the poll directly Richard. I’ve Cced her into this thread.

I did a bit of digging. The last monthly report I can find for Cromwell was from Devon for August 2022 and it lists Nathan and Randy as Cromwell’s PRs. Obviously this was 3 years ago but thought it might still be helpful to share. 

I can’t find Stask’s last report because I can’t remember my Groups.io password lol. Drika might have better look finding it. Or Drika and Dev could just choose since we have 4 PRs mentioned (Randy, Nathan, Mary & Jason) and 2 groups, presumably two for each. Mary has to be with Cromwell really since she doesn’t play on Stask but the other 3 people play in both groups.
