Captains Log

2425.09.20:

<Captain's Log, supplemental.>

Cromwell was making good time towards Bajor and Deep Space Nine, just reaching the outer ranges of Bajor's operational fleets when Commander Greene picked up a faint signal buried in the background noise of space.  He and Desson are working on triangulating where the signal is coming from, somewhere in the Denarios Belt.  A few extra hours should not affect Cromwell's transport mission of the Kai, and would be good for the crew.

Meanwhile I had a brief visit with Kai Mira.   She has undefinable concerns about Martis' Orb of Hope.  It has been safely stored in Martis' quarters since we retrieved it, and Martis seems confident about the security.  Greene did post additional patrol's as a precaution.  Michael was more in line with Matis' belief that she could and would protect it.  That would be the definition of Guardian of the Orb of hope as the Bajoran's are calling her now.

I completed my Physical with Dr. Clark, and others are following suit.  I should touch base with Wishi at sometime, although not required.

All systems are working fine.  I would not have expected less of the crew under Captain Martis.  That is freeing up engineering to take care of more superficial changes.  I believe Col. Reynolds may be redecorating Ten forward.  Amber, my chief engineer probably will have thoughts about that, but I know she has the time as everything else is in order.

Nice to have Cromwell under normal operations again.  The crew deserved a respite.  Now we are getting back to work and it feels good.

<End log>

2425.10.21:

Captains log.  Recording

The away team had been quote planetside unquote for nearly 30 minutes.  Asteroid k355ck is probably blocking all but a narrow escape path now.

We have not heard any reports yet, but do not expect any until they clear the asteroids near their location.  We should heard in about 15-25 minutes.

I am hoping they have found something interesting worthy of the risk of this mission.  There is little hard evidence of the Bajoran resistance, given the secretive nature required of the Bajorans. How does one document a secret organization?   Only survivors can tell the tale.   And they are limited to the winning side.  Exaggeration, hyperbole and grandiose proclamations often make documentation difficult.

I am glad Martis took Lt Riggi with her.  An independent observer will lend credibility to Captain Martis’ report.  This may be a rare opportunity to look into the operations of a successful rebellion.  We have our own records of rebellion, but they can clearly be biased.

We should be arriving at DS 9 this week.  I am looking forward to some downtime for the crew.  While not exactly taxing, the crew has been diligent in their duties.  Hopefully the coordinated efforts will help forge this crew into a single unit. I am hoping Cromwell can still work her magic.

<Captain's Log Stardate 2426.01.26>

Title AKA: Where did the plot line go?

Timeline:  Oh, so many answers for this one.

******************************************************************************************

Carson sat in the command chair, hand on chin, staring into space.... Literally.

It could be, would be, a long time before this entry made it to the future.  Or, it made it already, and he just didn't know... So many variables.  And none of them in his control this time.  Even when the prophet, Q and that strange man at the portal of time was messing with the crew of Cromwell, Carson had been working his own shenanigans, either in cooperation or apposition to the trio, he wasn't sure.  But he felt in control.  Not this time.  Best to start at the beginning.

Captains Log, Stardate 2426.01, local stardate 2372 which is our best estimate.

Cromwell was enroute to Bajor carrying the Kai Mira after the 'Show the Flag tour' at Soll III.
Long story short: Klingons, hired by Romulans, attacked the Romulan Flagship S'Task.  Diplomacy broke down.  Everyone went home after the Final Ball, where attempted assassinations of Romulans and Klingons broke up the dance.  The DFA, thankfully I should guess, stayed out of the direct line of fire, but this is straining our alliances with both the Klingons and the Romulans.  Rumor has it Factions of Klingons are working with Factions of Romulans.  It sounds like civil war may be brewing, perhaps in both empires.

With Kai Mira  and her entourage safely aboard Cromwell, we set off.  DJ Greene found an aberrant signal on our way to Bajor.  This prompted a more detailed search.  Captain Martis led an away team including DJ Greene, Col Reynolds (Piloting the shuttle), Lt Rosek, Janos Riggi and Dr. Clark.  It was considered a dangerous away mission as the signal, and an old resistance beacon, was on an asteroid that presumably had gotten deflected from its more interior position within the asteroid belt and was on an imminent collision course with a second larger asteroid.  They would have to be quick.

Landing, and spotting the beacon's power cable and antenna, the away team investigated.  It was an automated system.  Rosek retrieved the beacon's computer core, which was partially corrupted data.  Riggi was 'Held up' by a dead person in a space suit.  The space suit read 'Leryn Sael', a bajoran name but the dead occupant was a cardassian female.  With time running out, the away team escaped being crushed by Reynolds flying, and returned to Cromwell with the information. An interesting look into the rebellion's past of Bajoran Resistance.

"Computer insert previous captain's log reference to away mission 2425.10 here." requested Sesgaard ..."and readback."

<Captains log.  Recorded during away mission>

The away team has been quote planetside unquote for nearly 30 minutes.  Asteroid k355ck is probably blocking all but a narrow escape path now.

We have not heard any reports yet, but do not expect any until they clear the asteroids near their location.  We should hear in about 15-25 minutes.

The computer reported "This is the end of away mission captain's log.  Follow up report unavailable.

"Why?" asked Carson.

"No follow up report was filed," said the computer.

That was because the Cromwell immediately fell into a new mission.  "Right.  So no record of the graffiti on the asteroid that said 'Death to Cardies'?" asked Carson.

"Negative, although such records may remain with Captain Martis, or other away team members."

"Computer, Request away team comments of points of interest," said Sesgaard, "...and Continue captain's log."

Cromwell took a brief detour to pass by Deep Space 9, and the worm hole on our way to Bajor proper.  Constable Odo contacted us from DS9, saying 'welcome back'.  Interestingly, in our follow up investigations, we found that none of Cromwell's recent commanders had gone to DS9 for any reason, bringing a question about his comment.  Passing in front of the worm hole, Cromwell was pulled into the wormhole. Cromwell went INTO the worm hole, but instead of coming out in the Gamma Quadrant, we exited in the Alpha Quadrant, facing DS9.   An EMP-like Pulse partially and temporarily disabled Cromwell.  We were met by Commander Jadzia Dax and the USS Defiant.  Through some sign language, we were able to get a tow to DS9.

Chief engineer Amber Rosek alerted me I would be the second to know when engines came back online.  We got them online shortly before arriving at DS9, Also, we brought comms back online.  Not at all suspicious to the USS Defiant's crew, or so we hope.  Chief O'Brien, and midshipman cadet Nog came aboard while we were towed into dock on the pylon.  So far, nothing seems to have tipped them off that we are from their future, but they are a smart crew.  There was a discussion among the bridge crew about being honest with them.  In retrospect, I think we should have used the word forthright, over honest, as there seemed to be a divide although Captain Martis' comment about the Temporal Prime Directive seemed to satisfy all to a sufficent degree.

We have figured out, through Star positioning by midshipman Hazellilly, and through records (Commander Jadzia Dax would be, or will be killed during the coming year) our place in the timeline has shifted.  We do not know why.  My best guess is something is out of line with the timeline, which dumped us here.  If we can determine what has changed, or will change, if we can correct that without creating new paradoxes, we should revert back to our own timeline.

I have issued leave to the crew to visit Deep Space 9.  The Temporal prime directive is in effect. I will be accompanying Hazelilly, which should prove interesting to say the least.  They say something seems off about Cromwell and the DS9 crew, but is uncertain how else to put it to words.

On a pleasant retrospective note, the Christmas program activated this year, despite being back in time.  It was a quiet Christmas on Cromwell.  Ficus was given to Hazel lilly, Commander Blu S'hirt's Ficus lives, despite her best efforts to have it cease to function (as Six would have put it).  Chris Townsend contacted me while we were enroute to Bajor and we picked him up on the way. I missed the old runabout with the Thunderbeast nose art.  We could get away with a lot more on the colony than we can aboard Cromwell.  I will have to protect the colony's shuttle.

Computer, add a list of crew who go aboard DS9 for the records, and end Log.

<End Captain's Log>

Ongoing Follow up Plots.
Just wrapping a couple of back stories to get everyone into the same timeframe, back in time at DS9.  Should be completed this week.

Midshipman Nettle and Admiral Sesgaard went aboard DS9 to scout around for anything "Out of the ordinary".  They decided on exploring Garak's tailor shop, and found a second Cardassian named Kelnak hiding there.  The cardassians talked about the persecution of their species aboard DS9.  Conclusions: So far, nothing out of the ordinary.   Carson Discussed a couple of leads developed by Nettle, a difference between Kalnek and Garak in the shop.  Both were Cardassians, but Nettle felt Kalnek was different, and had an affinity for her.

Expect a lot of new tags to go out.  If you want a tag, please do not hesitate to request one from Dev or Drika.  Anyone is also welcome to open a post to get yourself involved in the Plot, or if you just want to explore DS9 and meet the character NPCs.

Thank you all for playing.  Borderlands lives because of you, the dedicated players.

Respectfully submitted
Devon.
