[Six Of Twelve]

Hi Guys,

So, the website is close to done. Its not perfect, but as I've said, I'm not great with SiteJet. Someone seems to have fixed the menu though, so whoever that was, thank you.

It still needs the DS pages sorting. I haven't been in good health lately, but I will do my best to get that done this month. It also needs the blog sorting, but I don't have access to that to upload it. 

The application page is ready though, so I think it may be worth launching the site, so we can get back to receiving applicants as soon as possible. Could someone who knows what they are doing set our URL to redirect to:

https://www.borderlands.starfleetuk.org/

I think I set up forwarding, but it doesn't seem to be working yet, probably takes some time. Ideally you wouldn't be just forwarding to the address, but this looks like a subdomain so I'm not sure if you can do anything other than forwarding. I'm uncertain if that has a SEO impact, but I can ask my wife if she knows since that used to be her profession.

Actually it seems like www.startrekborderlands.com works but just startrekborderlands.com doesn't... both are supposed to.

I don't know much about it myself. It would be preferable to transfer the URL, but I don't know if we can do that. 

And I'm having more trouble with SiteJet; the 'Apply Now' option in the Menu keeps leading to the Constitution page for some reason and I can't work out how to fix it. If someone else on the editing team can fix it, that would be awesome because I've been messing with it for half an hour and have gotten nowhere. 

Honestly, I hate the editor more and more and seriously considered just buying a subscription to Wix, but I'm skint so that's not an option lol (and even if I wasn't, we really need something free for longevity). Although, if we are doing a redirect anyway, we could potentially use the free version of Wix, but I have no idea if/how that would affect our SEO. Sigh.

It looks like someone migrated the URL to Squarespace possibly? (just got an email that my URL was moved) I assume since you were able to do that then everything is sorted with the site and I've given you all all that you need to control it from here on out?

Also was it a legit email? And yes I believe Squarespace charges, I've been helping with a therapist's website and learning a lot about options for her. Trying to find something free for webhosting is proving difficult but  the people currently hosting charge $500 a month for questionable SEO. Long story. Off the record, if you want some software Tabitha to handle the editing etc let me know and I may be able to accidentally download something for you, not that I do that sort of thing. Sorry I have been out of the loop as far as contributing, between two deaths in the family and being in hospital this year has been challenging. That's my excuse. I'm happy to have a look at the site and see if I can help etc, just let me know.

That would be great AM. I did start a website using the platform Jayden’s friend recommended to us. It’s not terrible, but I had trouble with some of the formatting, particularly the menu which wouldn’t work. 

We need to find out if this email is legit though because if our URL was moved and it wasn’t by us, that is concerning.

I would suggest checking the header to see the originating address and if there is anything that looks suspicious in it just as a starting point.

A bit late to the conversation, but if the domain was hosted through Google Domains then it was migrated to Squarespace since they bought up Google Domains.  I had the same thing happen to a couple of my personal domains

From what I recall it should be automatically moved. I think a square space account gets auto generated with the associated email address. But yeah it's there where you should be able to handle redirecting or whatever.
