Hi, long time Starr Farm Beach member Jack Murray passed away at home last Sunday. I always looked to Jack for a measured, thoughtful opinion on whatever puzzle I would pose. As more details are available I will pass them along. I will miss him. Thoughts go out to Suzanne, Sarah, and the rest of the extended Murray family

My heart just broke a little. Dr Murray was always a joy to see and I will forever be in his debt when he helped not only my daughter, Elizabeth when she had seizures in ‘89 and then my niece when she came for Leslie’s wedding and got really sick.
He always had a smile and a wave as you walked by his camp.
Big hugs to Suzanne, Sarah and family.

So sorry to hear this news. Heartfelt condolences to Suzanne and Sarah.

Jack Murray was a wonderful member of the Starr Farm community and a great neighbor. Several recollections of quick medical attention for feet cut on clam shells, broken glass or whatever mysteries lie beneath the surface of the lake or on the beach.

And of course, leading the Fourth of July Parade, with the big bass drum and a red, white and blue striped "Uncle Sam" hat, with John Phillip Sousa music emanating patriotically from the Murray's porch.

And let's not forget the good and stout Irish "hymns" sung stoutly on Labor Day gatherings of the Murray family as well.

He will be missed.

I’m so very sorry to hear this sad news. Dr. Murray was a treasure. When my kids were little he helped us tremendously with his great skill as a physician, and his down to earth communication style and practical advice. I always loved visiting with him and loved how he had a great friendship with my Dad and Mom. My heart goes out to Sarah, Suzanne, and grandsons Jack and Ty. He will be very missed! ❤️

Very sad to hear about Dr. Murray - he was a big part of our Burlington neighborhood, as well as a leader at Starr Farm. And he always wanted to talk about music… - Beth

Such sad news. Jack was always a role model to me as a physician, a person, and as a Starr Farmer. Always warm and welcoming, he was among the first Starr Farmers to welcome Kevin into the fold. My deepest condolences to Suzanne and Sarah.

We join in expressing our sadness and condolences. Jack was a true gentleman,  in the fullest sense … a gentle person… kind … jovial … thoughtful…  tolerant… caring.  And a great neighbor.  Bon voyage Jack.

Our thoughts go out to Sue and the family with our warmest sympathy. We all of us are saddened and share your loss.

So very sad to hear about another great loss in our community. Dr Murray was part of the pediatric practice we saw as kids and continued to be a wonderful generous resource at SFB. His interest and love for all of us never wavered.I have a treasured picture of my dad and Dr Murray walking together last summer. They had a very special relationship.  I also have to say what a wonderful wife, partner and caretaker Suzanne has been. Such good role models for all of us. My love to both Suzanne and Sara during this sad time. 💝Laurie

Jack had that wonderful Irish spark in his eyes and deep love in his soul.  My fondest memory of Jack and Starr Farm is when I would be walking back from evening refreshments at Pete McCoy’s and walking past the Murray camp, Jack would come out the front door and not let me pass until I came in for a nightcap or two.  Of course hours would pass and wonderful stories that I treasure, RIP my friend.

What a treasure we have all lost in Doc. Many great memories of sunset boat trips with him at the controls. Many late game nights and bunkhouse sleepovers as teenagers with Sarah. Having long discussions about serving in the military as a young adult. Him and my dad discussing the finer points of potluck food. Always a strong patriot, him and his drum leading the 4th of July parade when I returned from overseas. He always had time to be a mentor, a friend and provide hospitality including backyard BBQs and many late nights at #10 for my kids playing games with grandsons and Ty and Jack, just like we did as kids with Sarah and Tom. The McCormicks at #14 will surely miss him dearly and our prayers are with Suzanne and family, Sarah, Jack and Ty.

Doc was the physician in Fred’s National Guard helicopter unit for years. He was  Jenny’s pediatrician for a while. He also showed me an exercise to help a difficult frozen shoulder.
A compassionate soul he was, and I will always remember his loud drumming at the head of the July 4th parade!
We will all miss him♥️

In recent years, Jack made it a point to attend as many Starr Farm Beach events as possible. I valued the time spent sitting with him in the barn, including an engaging conversation this past August about pediatric health policy and his thoughtful perspective.

Dr. Murray was an early advocate for the value Certified Athletic Trainers could play in the health of young athletes. I appreciated his time and advice as I began my studies in that profession in the early 1980s...

It was also fun that he bought the camp previously owned by my Great Uncle Scott and Aunt Eula Brothers.

It is sad that time marches on and so many of the SFB 'adults' with whom we 'kids' rubbed shoulders have left us...  Eternal thanks for your love, mentoring, and fun!

My condolences to the Murrays...

Our deepest condolences & prayers go out Suzanne, Sarah & the entire Murray family.  This was such sad news to hear.  Jack was a mainstay for so many years around the campsite plus he was one of our trusted pediatricians for all four of our children, so we go way back in time.  We will always remember his joyful, fun spirit and zest for life.  He loved a good time while at the same time being extremely sensitive to people's issues or concerns.  We will miss our dear friend very much.  May he rest in peace. 💕🙏
