Hi, there are stories circulating about dead deer and cows floating around, as a result of the flooding. From what I can gather, while these stories may generate a vivid picture in one's mind, they are bogus. That said, the lake has come up just about a foot and a half. That is a lot of water. I suspect most has entered the lake through the Lamoille and Winooski Rivers, as the recent storms hit the northern parts of the state.

The lake water quality of Burlington's beaches is monitored by the Parks Department. They test for E.coli and cyanobacteria twice weekly, on Monday and Thursday, and post results on Tuesday and Friday. A link to their web site is below.

Once on the web site, click on SWIM WATER at the top. At teh next screen, click on the blue swim water updates page. It will generate a pdf file
as is shown on the bottom of the email. Today, Blanchard Beach north & south are closed. The top entry is the North Shore Natural Area, that's our backyard, to the immediate north of SFB lakefront.

Is the water clear off Starr Farm Beach? No, it's definitely turbid (aka: stirred up). Is the Park's Dept information accurate? I hope so. Is it a better source of information than that friend of your mother's brother's cousin? You betcha.

I'm going for a swim. Bill
