Sun is stupid. Instead of trying to compete with the likes of VA Linux and
selling Intel/Linux servers, they should sell Solaris x86 servers. People will
pay more for a Sun manufactured Intel/AMD-based Solaris x86 server than
a Linux server. If they sold their own, then hardware compatibility for Solaris x86
is a non-issue. They can just write the drivers needed to run on their
servers.
Instead they are going to follow SGI into oblivion.... Aren't a lot of their
execs ex-SGI slugs?
