Sun Microsystems Inc.'s new attitude toward Linux isn't
causing Microsoft Corp. or IBM to lose any sleep. Sun, of
Palo Alto, Calif., took aim at the two software companies earlier this
month, announcing an expanded commitment to Linux across its product line.

Sun is stupid. Instead of trying to compete with the likes of VA Linux and
selling Intel/Linux servers, they should sell Solaris x86 servers. People will
pay more for a Sun manufactured Intel/AMD-based Solaris x86 server than
a Linux server. If they sold their own, then hardware compatibility for Solaris x86
is a non-issue. They can just write the drivers needed to run on their
servers.

Instead they are going to follow SGI into oblivion.... Aren't a lot of their
execs ex-SGI slugs?
