Formatting Question

by it. I have a formatting question.
I have formatting while typing turned off, Auto Correction turned off,
but, while typing SO keeps suggesting corrections, Fore example I type
"there" at the end of a line and SO wants to turn it into "therefore", if
I then hit Enter I end up with "therefore" unless I add a space and then
delete the space. How do I stop this happening?
Another thing I notice is that words sometimes have unevenly spaced
letters giving the impression they have gaps in them, yet, the spaces are
not quite letter size. Strangely it does not happen all the time. Can
this be corrected or is it a feature or bug?
The Help files I find to be often too technical and brief assuming you
know a lot to begin with. I try to find tutorials, but, can seem to only
find courses that cost. I'm even considering going to Open Office where
there is at least activity and help in their newsgroups. Any help would
be appreciated though if anyone reads these newsgroups these days.
