When I save a first time during a session a spreadsheet (or a text document)
I get the following error:
Error Loading BASIC of document
file:///home/herman/.openoffice/user/basic/Standard/script.xlb/:
General Error
General input/output error.
A second similar message for dialog.xlb also appears after this one
The reason for these messages is quit clear: these files do not exist, since
I use NIS for the users and have their homes pointing to an NFS-mounted
directory on the server.
But I cannot find any place in the Tools - Options that would point to
this /home/herman directory, they all point to the correct /m1h/herman.
The BASIC path contains the string
"/usr/lib/openoffice/share/basic;/m1h/herman/.openoffice/share/basic"
Any suggestion how I can get rid of these errors??
Subsequent save operations during a same session - even for different files
- do not produce these errors anymore.
Strangely enough, I have been using previous versions of OpenOffice on
Mandrake8.0 and 9.2 , and never encoutered this sort of problem before.
I had a similar error but triggered in a different way.
My solution was to "borrow" the missing files from an
earlier installation of OO and all was well.

It seems I was not very clear on the cause of the problem: I do not have
a /home/herman directory on my system, so where does OO pick that up?
Second thing that puzzles me: I find dialog.xlb and script.xlb more than
once (and they are different files - I checked sizes) in subdirectories
in /usr/lib/openoffice/share/basic , but there is no Standard dir there as
pointed out in the message.
Tx anyway for the effort.
