odbc mysql problem

Hi

Can anyone help ?

I can no get staroffice to give me access to an mysql database - either
direct or via odbc. The file is recognised in the data browser and on the
data sources screen (it will allow me to make queries) bit when I try to
use the data I get the following message

The data content could not be loaded

[unixODBC][TCX][MyODBC] You have an error in your SQL
syntax. Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL
server version for the right syntax to use near " at line 1

This is error code 1064 and SQL status 42000

Any advice gratefull received
