Is adabase D still free to download somewhere?
Do you know the URL?
Do you know the filename for use on win2K...as I'm moving to a new machine, have Adabase and SO5.2, but can't seem to find the executable to put on the new laptop.
Thanks for any help you could offer.

Unfortunately, SO5.2 is no longer available as a free for download from Sun Microsystems. You'd have to buy it either from a local vender (CompUSA) or directly from Sun. See their website at:

http://wwws.sun.com/software/star/staroffice/5.2/index.html for details; or,

For available retail outlets, go to:

http://wwws.sun.com/software/star/staroffice/5.2/et/buyus.html#orderretail; or,

Amazon.com

Sorry, suga...

Hi There

Guess What ??? It's your Lucky Day!
And it's the 1st of April but you'd be The April Fool not to read this.

After spending the LAST YEAR TRAWLING through the Internet with various search engines, YESTERDAY (31/3/03) I found a SITE where you can DOWNLOAD the WINDOWS VERSION STAROFFICE 5.2 ADABAS D ENGINE and INSTALLER for FREE! & it's the 100MB limit & not time restricted version!

OK. The installer is the GERMAN VERSION but the program side is English. I don't speak German but it was easy enough to guess which button to press i.e. BACK NEXT CANCEL. NEXT looks like this: Next>> but in German. Even the >> is in German too but it looks the same (Sorry, just my lame joke. Ha Ha. Well it is the 1st of April after all).

The file is approx 12MB in size. I've already got it up & running on my machine with no hassle what-so-ever.

As a quick word of caution: When you give your NEW DATABASE it's PATHNAME don't leave any spaces i.e. C:/Program Files/MyDataBase for some reason it does not work correctly if you do that ???. Far better to use something plain like: C:/MyFiles/MyDataBase etc.

Finally HERE IS THE URL (Pheww!):

http://www.sts.tu-harburg.de/intranet/Adabas/entry.html

Just click on the Link: Adabas fur StarOffice

Then sit back or make a cup of Coffee, perform an Irish Jig or something & just wait for the file to download.

Good Luck to ONE & ALL
