I am trying to install 112885-04 patch for StarOffice 6.0 on my
Solaris 9 system.

After downloading the unsigned patch and un-tar it, the instruction
tells me to start the Product Update Installation Program .. What
program is this ? Where can I find it ?

Any other things to watch for ?

Any help is greatly appreciated ...

Thx, Walter

In order to start the Product Update Installation Program, you will need
to go to a terminal window (right click on the desktop the go to 'Tools
| Terminal') then change to the directory where you have unpacked the
patch files to - this may be in your home directory, or a temp
directory, for example. Once you are within the directory where the
files are stored, simply type the command:

./so-6_0-pp3-bin-solsparc.bin

and the update programme should start to load up automatically and
install for you. If you are running Solaris on an x86 machine, you will
need to type:

./so-6_0-pp3-bin-solia.bin

Make sure that you do not have StarOffice running whilst you apply this
patch.

Any problems, just get back in touch!

May I ask why you add the "-patch" parameter at the end of the command?
If you simply type:

./so-6_0-pp3-bin-solsparc.bin

you should find the patch will start installing. There is no need for
any additional paramters when launching the patch installation programme...

I did it because the documentation tells me to do it for Network type
of install. BTW .. you will see same problem without -path.

Anyway, I downloaded "signed" copy and implemented it by running the
command (without -patch).

Thx for your help.

Walter

Glad you managed to get the patch installed and is working correctly
now! The reason I asked about the '-patch' was to see if you have the
problem when not trying to patch the network version...

Anyways, if you have problems in the future, do not hesitate to get back
in touch!
