required patches cannot be installed..

Hi,

I try to install Openoffice1.0.2 on solaris 8 E450.

Install program tells me that I have to install the patches 108434-01.
This patch is required by Staroffice also.
I have 108434-10.

In a freshly installed system, I cannot applied the required patch,
patchadd log says

/var/spool/patch/108434-10/SUNWlibC/install/checkinstall:
/var/spool/patch/108434-10/SUNWlibC/install/checkinstall cannot open
pkgadd: ERROR: checkinstall script did not complete succesfully

I looked for a solution on sunsolve. One of them tells that 108434-06
patch has some file permission problems.

I inspected the patch directories and there is no permission problem.
