I installed office 6.0 on Solaris 9. Patched it with patch 112885-03.
It freeze with flash start page displayed. Truss shows infinite loop searching for same
java files. I tried to uninstall it but it comes with error
No resource:Error message not available
Function : 'GnomeDeinstall Line 82
then
No resource:Error message not available
Function : 'CDEDeinstall Line 59

Any idea how to clean the patch and deinstall it so that I can reinstall it?

Hello Jan,

I cannot say what your problem is (regarding the freeze) without getting some additional information.

But, as far as the uninstallation goes, heres what you have to do, depending on the type of installation you have previously run: either "Network User" or "Single User":

A. Network User Installation

1. Make sure that you are logged-in as the user who installed the program. In order to uninstall the User Installation, you will have to start the StarOffice Setup program from the Network Installation directory (e.g., "/opt/staroffice6.0/program/").

2. In the following Setup program window, select the option "Remove" and continue with the further Setup program steps.

3. Steps "1" and "2" need to be repeated for each User Installation installed under the Network Installation.

4. Make sure that you are logged-in as Root User. In order to uninstall the Network Installation, you will have to start the Setup program from the Network Installation directory (e. g., "/opt/staroffice6.0/program/"). In addition, you will need to use the parameter "- net".

5. In the following Setup program window, select the option "Remove" and continue with the further Setup program steps.

B. Single User Installation

1. Make sure that you are logged-in as the user who installed the program. In order to uninstall StarOffice, you will have to run the Setup program from the StarOffice directory (e.g., "/home/<username>/staroffice6.0/program/").

2. In the following Setup program window, choose the option "Remove" and complete the further program steps.

Afterwards, you can reinstall StarOffice. If you are working on a Solaris or Linux operating system, I would generally recommend running the Network User Installation.
Please let me know if your initial problem still remains after a clean reinstall.
