I'm making a shared installation of StarOffice on our AFS network file-
system.
The Sun Solaris kit goes in just fine and runs like a charm.
The installation of the Linux kit goes just fine, but attempts to start
the program are immediately met with a dialog box that says
The application cannot be started.
The component manager is not available.
Start the setup application to repair the installation from
the CD or the folder containing the installation package.
If I move that very same installation from the directory on AFS to
a directory on local disk or a NFS-mounted disk, it works.
I am not going to revert to campus-wide No File Security just to get one
bloody office app to work from one central location. Does anybody have
any clues about what the catch might be?
