Chapter Eleven of Starlette is now available on Kindle and Nook. With
only two chapters to go after this, things are reaching the boiling
point for Starlette and her cast. If you think you know what will
happen… well, you might know what will happen, but try to act
surprised when you read it.

But wait, there’s more!

A couple of weeks ago, I posted about a guest blog that I wrote for a
site called DiscoverLit. The site, which is just now opening to the
public, will be a must-know destination for anyone who has an interest
in reading (or writing) serial novels or other short form fiction.
I’ve been giving my input to them as the writer of a serial and I
think that you will really like that they have to offer.

Before I start going into the details, I just want to make it clear
that aside from posting my work on the site, as I do on Amazon or
Barnes and Noble, I really have no stake in this company. I’ve sent
them some input and ideas, but I have not taken any money from them.
I’m simply excited by what they offer in terms of support for serials.

For starters, they will have the option to subscribe to a series! I’ve
contacted Amazon about this possibility in the past, but they have not
put any serial support in place yet. With the subscription, you can
get a discount on the overall series, and each chapter/episode will be
sent directly to your device upon release. You can purchase back-
issues at their normal price. Starlette will be released on a separate
schedule there. The material will be the same as on Kindle and Nook,
but there will be time to benefit from the subscription option before
the end of the series, rather than dumping the whole series out at
once and not allowing readers to share those benefits.

The site will also allow authors to offer discounts and free chapters.
I will be offering the first three chapters of Starlette for free,
which is something that I can’t do on Amazon or Barnes and Noble.

If you’re a reader of serialized fiction, this should appeal to you.
Having something show up on your Kindle is a lot easier than having to
remember to go back and seek out each chapter when they’re released.

If you’re a writer who has stayed away from writing a serial because
of the limitations that some other sites have, check out DiscoverLit.
Once they’re at full speed, I think they’ll be a great asset to the
indie publishing community.

I might sound like an infomercial salesman here, but considering the
less than friendly response I have gotten from certain sites who have
no love for serials, I think this could be pretty awesome. Check it
out and let me know what you think.
