The Bradford County Commission, Thursday, approved a recommendation by its library advisory board by hiring All-State Construction Company as the construction m anager for the new Bradford County Library building.

The new structure is slated for the Pratt Street location now occupied by the Starke Recreation Department.  Last year, county commissioners approved a $2 milli on loan to finance the project.

Mr. Vaughan heralded the quality of Allstate’s reputation, and told commissioners the firm has a track record in Bradford County, having recently completed the media center at Southside Elementary school.

“That went very well,” reported Mr. Vaughan of the school project.  “It was on time and on budget.”

Mr. Vaughan told commissioners that if they approved his committee’s recommendation, work on the project would begin immediately.

Referring to the construction manager that Allstate planned to assign to the library, Mr. Vaughan said, “he will, in fact, upon approval tonight, will be here t omorrow, to immediately hit the ground running, working with our architects, and looking at the drawings from every angle.”

After the commission endorsed the advisory committee’s recommendation, library director Phalbe Henriksen donned a purple hard hat to mark the occasion.  And Ms. Henriksen’s attire engendered some ribbing from County Commission Chairman Doyle Thomas.

“You’ve got a hard hat to go with that hard head,” he said.
