Two of Starke’s newest businesses, which have been
operating next door to one another, will soon be
expanding.

Tracy Abbott, a partner of Madison Street Pharmacy,
said his business will soon be moving across Bay
Street to the building most recently occupied by the
LifeSouth Community Blood Centers.

Mr. Abbott, who along with his best friend and fellow
Lake City resident Thomas Barber, opened the Starke
pharmacy two years ago, said the move will increase
approximately 500 square feet of retail space to the
business. But the pharmacist added that the move will
also add more storage area and parking, “And that
building will give us a little more of a professional
image.”

And the pharmacy’s neighbor to the north will also
soon expand. Results Fitness Center will undergo its
second expansion in as many years, taking over the
corner building at Call and Bay Streets. The brick
structure was formerly occupied by Sisters Antiques
and Gifts. But owner Debbie Hull recently move her
shop east to 301 East Call Street, a building directly
across the railroad tracks from the Santa Fe Community
College Cultural Center.

Matthew Scott, owner of Results Fitness Center, said
the expansion will add 1,000 square feet to his gym
and that he has earmarked the additional space for a
massage room.

“Plus we will be putting equipment in there that
doesn’t involve weights like exercise balls, mats,
and stretching equipment,” he said.

Mr. Scott built a 1,000 addition to the business last
year, and devoted the extra space to free weights.

The Certified Fitness Trainer, who is also a
specialist in performance nutrition, said he also
recently expended his nutrition program.
