With Serra next to him, Trey approached Howard and Malone.  Trey slowly nodded at Howard while giving Malone a slow-burning 'fuck you' stare, standing quietly to let Serra and the others talk.

"I'd say it's good to see a familiar face, but this is *you* we're talking ab-"

Alyssa had barely had a chance to get past the greeting-phase of messing with Buzz, when footsteps sounded down the hallway past the intersection. She let the sentence die unfinished when she recognized them, sliding immediately to attention. "Ma'am. Master Sergeant."

Was this the drill? Her new team, plus Buzz? If so, that meant Josiah was around here somewhere, and that would be just about the best thing ever - "Is the rest of SG8 on board, ma'am?"

"You and Master Sergeant Mosely are the only others I've come across so far," Keiko said, with a smile at both Buzz and Howard in greeting.  "As far as I was aware, this wasn't a team mission, this was a case of whoever they could pick up.  I heard from Josiah to say he'd been contacted but recommended he continue to rest up so we're unlikely to see him.  Not heard from Ockman yet, I take it you've not seen him?"

-------------------------
Buzz had barely time to realize that it was Alyssa who'd greeted him in the hallway from behind. He was about to make some snarky insulting comment. For ages now when he did run into her from time to time he'd been careful to put their antagonistic ways behind them. It seemed to be working as she could easily have said something a lot nastier or even avoided him completely, so while his comment was to be unflattering, it would have been accompanied by a genuinely friendly smile. Besides, it was nice to have a familiar face in the crew. While he made a point to memorize names and faces in the security department at the SGC, these ship crews and offworld bases were largely unacceptable and unfamiliar to him.

However, before he could say anything they were joined by Captain Serra and SSgt Mosely. He smiled at Serra, remembering her early days at the SGC when he showed her security vids of some of the more horrific happenings on base. Probably a bad move, but she DID ask... As for Mosely, he couldn't remember exactly what he'd done to the man to earn himself a death glare, but he was used to that. Some people just hated him by reputation, which Buzz had to confess he was proud of. It was like having Buzzed all those recruits without having to actually Buzz them. Like a superpower! He shot Mosely a brilliant smile in return.

"That's right, ma'am." He said, turning again to Keiko. "That's what I'd heard too. Just gathering up whatever human resources were on hand. Unfortunately I forgot to unplug my phone so they managed to catch me on vacation." He shrugged. "My fault for not actually doing anything cool like going to Barbados or Cancun or something."

Lucky us, Trey mused to himself, ignoring Malone’s pretty 1,000 candle watt smile.  The Master Sergeant was thankful Malone was someone else’s problem and not Eight’s.  Every unit had their problem child and to Trey Eight’s was Rookwood though the nerd was a civilian.  Holy shit, Trey thought as he realized he’d rather deal with Rookwood than Buzz.

Trey’s sharp eyes left Buzz and drifted to Howard.  She was so new to Eight she still had that ‘new car smell’ about her.  When she had been assigned to Eight, Trey didn’t know her from Adam (well, make that Eve) and so accessed the back channel sources available to senior enlisted personnel to get the scuttlebutt on her.  Did he ever get an earful, both good and questionable.  A gun-bunny who had proven to have a pair of big ones and a tech that made Macgyver look retarded.  On the flip side, a party girl in extremis with all the baggage that came with it.  Trey didn’t care what an airman did on their downtime as long as the negatives didn’t interfere with the performance of his or her duties.

Trey’s eyes dropped down to her rolled up sleeves, his eyes narrowing slightly at the non-regulation infraction that threatened order and uniformity.  In the field, he could allow such leeway that showed he couldn’t give a rat fuck, but not on a military...well, whatever this bucket of bolts they were on was called.  She might be SGC, but Howard was still Air Force.  This wasn’t the place or the time, Trey knew, but he would talk to her at some point.

"Doctor Ockman?" Alyssa replied, then shook her head. "No, ma'am. I haven't. I've only been to get a uniform and report in, though, so he could easily be somewhere else on board."

"Sounds like we're all as in the dark as each other then."  Keiko kept her sunny smile but inside she was wondering if Will was on board.  He hadn't answered when she'd tried to call to let him know she was heading on a mission but that in itself wasn't all that worrying, she just hoped he hadn't decided to come on the mission if they'd asked him.  Just like Josiah, Will was in no position to take part in any mission.

"Well I guess we'd better get to the briefing.  Any of you know the best way to get there?  We seem to have been turned around."

"It's back this way," Josiah said, coming up behind Keiko.  He nodded at the group at large; friendly faces.  Friendly faces and MSgt Mosley, anyway.  "Captain."  He smiled briefly at Keiko.  Their last conversation had ended with Keiko's sympathetic voice on the other end of the phone, a thing he could barely deal with at a distance.  She was just so /understanding/.  But she didn't know how things had gone down once they'd separated.  And Alyssa - well.  Friendly faces, that was the mantra.
