SGC - Getting a Lift - Malone

The helicopter sat on the landing pad but going full tilt. The whirling
rotors overhead caused waves in the nearby grass and a windsock nearby
creaked and rustled as it reacted to the air pressure. A woman in flight
gear leaned in her seat to shout at the man pacing just outside the open
side door.
"Where the hell is he?" she said. "We're on a schedule here!"
The man glanced back at her, shrugged dramatically and looked around the
airfield. She clicked her tongue and shouted again.
"If he's not here in three minutes, screw him. We've got things to--"
Their attention was caught by the sight of a silver Honda Civic as it
pulled up the long empty stretch of concrete and whirled to a stop in a
parking space a few yards away. After a few minutes, the door opened and
Sgt. Mark "Buzz" Malone climbed out of the driver's seat, leaned back in
and grabbed a bag. He looked far from military with his grey slacks,
black denim jacket with leather accents, aviator shades and
"Wormhole:EXTEME" baseball cap. He trotted over to the waiting
helicopter carrying a box and a heavy looking backpack over his shoulder.
"Sorry I'm late..." he started, but he was interrupted.
"Where the hell have you been? We've been waiting here nearly an hour!"
"Doughnuts." he replied. The helicopter crew exchanged looks as he
passed them and settled into his seat.
"WHAT?" they shouted back.
"Dough - nuts." he replied, loud and slow. "Round sweetie things with--"
"We know what they are." Shouted the pilot as the man slammed the door
shut. "Why are you so late?"
Buzz stared at her for a moment as though she was completely stupid.
"Because doughnuts." he replied, holding the box up and open. "Doughnut?"
She gritted her teeth and turned back to the controls. The helicopter
lifted up into the air to bear Buzz off to the latest wacky adventure
with the coolest military assignment in this side of the Kuiper belt.
