I was surprised by how different the app looked when I followed the emailed instructions to install it and activate the license. I noticed the app I had just installed had a new icon, a snazzy new interface, and a music player - I figured I had neglected updating the app before or had unlocked some paid user feature. Unfortunately, the equalizer in the Poweramp app wasn't having an effect anything except its own music player. I recalled having to use the "Known Players" menu and ADBing in to activate the DUMP permission when using the free version before, and I repeated the ADB process again just in case, but I couldn't for the life of me figure out where that "Known Players" setting was.

So, my question is, why are there two apps? I love the music player feature, but I also want the equalizer in the app to be system-wide. I am still mightily confused by the fact that the Poweramp app seems to have all the bells and whistles, plus more, of the Equalizer app, but the "Known Players" menu is absent. I don't understand why the app isn't unified, and indeed the non-equalizer (but yet also has an equalizer, much to my confusion) is only 3MB larger than the Equalizer one.

Poweramp is a long-established Android Music Player which has been available for 12+ years and has had constant updates (including v1 => v2 => v3) over the years. One of its popular features was a rather powerful equalizer module, for which there had been multiple requests over the years to be made available as a stand-alone product so it could also be used to balance the sound from other Android audio applications.

Thank you Andre this clears everything up! So the Known Players option isn't availble in the music player app Poweramp as that's a new feature with the new equalizer app. I'm not sure if I could have used the license on the original app as I had to purchase it through the website due to a lack if Google services.

To demonstrate this, I set Poweramp's equalizer this way:
Preamp -10 dB
One slider set to +10 dB
All other sliders 0 dB
Tone control off, limiter off, EQ control on

I played pink noise through Poweramp and recorded it onto my computer. I then analyzed the frequency spectrum in Audacity. Setting the 16 kHz slider to +10 dB shows a peak at 8 kHz and another one 16 kHz in the recorded audio. The sliders from 62 Hz to 8 kHz all give peak output at half of their labeled frequencies. I think that the 31 Hz slider was trying to output a peak at 15 Hz, but my phone can't seem to output such deep frequencies.

The equalizer works fine if you always move the slider that is one higher than the frequency band you are trying to control, but I can't control the 16 kHz band individually. This also makes it difficult to use my hardware frequency analyzer, because I have to remember to always move the slider one higher than the band I am looking at on the analyzer display.

Longer: There is a difference between DVC and non DVC modes, and non-DVC equalizer is a bit tricky, but nothing like octave (2x) errors. There is also small round errors in lower frequency bands due to fixed point arithmetics, but it's only a few hz (e.g. really there is 34hz vs 32hz band). As it strictly by 2 for you, this can be some sort of aliasing, or lack of freq. resolution.

So what exactly does the premium offer, I have looked on the Poweramp site, within Google play store, and a general Google search and mostly found various APK sites. I have the purchased version of Poweramp and absolutely love it. Does the equalizer app offer a better sound, or can it be used for other apps if unlocked?

EquipmentThe simplest configuration for most acoustic measurement purposes is a calibrated USB microphone (miniDSP's UMIK-1is recommended) and your computer's headphone or HDMI output. An analog measurement microphone (Dayton Audio's EMM-6, forexample) will need a suitable interface with a mic preamp and phantom power, such as Steinberg's UR22C or theFocusrite Scarlett 2i2.

you are using windows correct? if so go down to the speaker icon at the bottom on your taskbar. click on it then press mixer. fom there click on the icon for the speaker you are using then a new window should open that says speaker properties and should have 4 tabs(general, levels, enchancements and advanced) click the enchancements tab. put a checkmark on equalizer. go down where it says settings and you can pick from the default (pop, rock, bass boost, vocal, etc.)or tou can create your own setting with the (...) button. hope this helped.

Hey folks, we know the idea for an equalizer in the Desktop app is a popular request. While we're marking this as 'Not Right Now' please know we're continuing to watch the kudos and comments here in the Community and we're bringing them back to Spotify. Keep an eye here for any updates, thanks!

NOVA is a parallel dynamic equalizer. Appearing in the familiar layout of a parametric equalizer, each band also includes a full featured dynamics section allowing the processor to cover an impressively wide range of applications. Be it a master lacking density, the drum bus asking for more crispiness, or a sibilance problem in your perfect take: NOVA has an elegant answer.

An equalizer is probably the tool you use most while mixing and mastering, so you need the best of the best. With FabFilter Pro-Q 3, you get the highest possible sound quality, a very extensive feature set, and a gorgeous, innovative interface with unrivalled ease of use.

This voltage equalizer connect all lithium blades in parallel and making sure all blade voltages are equal and balance. Voltage balance is required if you are mixing new and old Nexcell lithium batteries in the vehicle, fail to do so will result in accelerated degradation or error code.

January 30, 2012: Voxengo is pleased to announce the release of CurveEQ version 3, a spline equalizer plugin for professional music and audio production applications, available in AudioUnit and VST plug-in formats (including native 64-bit support), for Mac OS X (v10.5 and later), and Windows computers.

CurveEQ shows you the actual filter response you are designing by means of a spline (a smooth curvy line), so you can actually see what the EQ is doing with the sound. This, in turn, allows you to get the best from your mix and your tracks. CurveEQ perfectly suits the needs of mastering, and in some cases CurveEQ is suitable for use as an in-track equalizer.

Newly installed 15.4 XFCE. I use pulseaudio and have sound from the mother board analog outputs with Smplayer, mocp and VLC. Would someone please point me to a present day version tutorial on setting up pulseaudio-equalizer as I have been unable to get any effect from it.

I was never able to get Calf plugins working until I installed pipewire on Tumbleweed, but things may be different in Leap. You could try installing calf and lv2-calf, then use one of the equalizers they provide, 5, 8, 12, and 30 bands. Check them out at -studio-gear.org.
