Can't Send EMail From StarOffice To Earthlink SMTP Server

I just installed StarOffice 5.1. I can't seem to send email from
StarOffice. The email property of the email left in the StarOffice outbox
lists the email status as 501 Invalid Domain Name. I can send and receive
email with my Outlook Express client. I have the same incoming and outgoing
mail server settings in StarOffice as they are in OE5. I can download email
from my internet email server in StarOffice, but can't send email. I use
Earthlink and both incoming (POP3) and outgoing (SMTP) email servers are
configured as mail.earthlink.net in OE5.

I am a home user with net access, and I am not behind a firewall nor
proxy server. Just a plain ISP connection.
This really bums me out. I wanted to use StarOffice for online email
composition.

I'm afraid I can't help you yet, as I just today discovered the
product. I am curious, however, as to what your first impressions of
the product are vs. MS Office (email problem aside).
