Hi!
I received a StarOffice 4.0 (OEM) with a new computer. Installed it only
by curiosity and... it seems great!

But have some questions before a fully adoption:
1
Disk says: StarOffice 4.0, Service Pack 2. On newsgroups & web page I
saw many references to 4.0 beta and downloads, pacthes & so. So: Have I
a beta? (seems not!); should I download something?

2
Sometimes I think: well if I don't know how 'he' does this or that I'll
make it with a macro. But knowledge of macro commands & functions needs
help -- and I don't see help about macros anywhere on star office! Am I
blind? hum...? at least something to download?

3
I'm portuguese (thus you will excuse my foggy english) so I installed
the portuguese version. Help files are english. Personally I don't have
problems with that (they are almost unnecessary -- good point for
StarOf4.0... except for macros... grrr) but they w't be good for Star
Office in Portugal.
Are you planing to do something about that?

4
Sometimes the translation into portuguese is #!!#$@%$#. What can we
say? << Bah! We don't give them enough $$. So they thought: why the
pain? Lets give them a some spaghetti portuguese thing >> But if are not
interested on portuguese market why a portuguese version?
Are you sure that your neighbour isn't the portuguese academic who
could give an eye on that?
(I thinking to uninstall portuguese version and install the english one
- and maybe I'll forget this sad story)
Who should be the target of more specific & documented protests? (maybe,
who knows, on next version things will be better)

5
I found that with StarWrite we can print documents on book format. The
solution -- after we choose landscape & booklet printing & print odd
pages & later the even ones, the program reduces the each one of the A4
or Letter pages of document so it fit on half a landscape page &... you
know-- is nice and I'm impressed (was looking for that long time). BUT I
can't do it with html -- the option for printing first even, after odd
pages disappear when it comes to html. Blind again? any workaround? with
so many online books on the web this is a strange waste...

6
I've tried to online register my copy. But I always (well, 4 or 5 times)
receive something like a "be patient", I am but didn't get anything. Is
this temporary?

Thanks

Julio

No, your version is no beta. It is also on the most recent service
level. So no need for download.

Open »Help - Help Index«. Use the »magnifying glass« icon for
searching for »StarBasic«. There you'll find your desired StarBasic
information. You can also check StarBasic-commands in the Basic-IDE
directly by marking them and clicking F1.

At the moment I have no information about if and when there will be a
Portuguese help available. For future information please refer to our
international web site at www.stardivision.com and our announce news
group.

Since I'm not Portuguese I'm not in the position to judge our
Portuguese version of StarOffice. But I will forward your complaint to
our translation dept.

HTML doesn't support pages (like in a normal printing document).
Actually, HTML documents do not have any pages at all. Only if you
print them you'll have paper-pages.

Actually the online registration works fine, please check if your ISP
provides you with an adequate bandwidth to our server.
