I cannot install my StarOffice 4.0 CD on my PC. When I execute the
setup.exe program, it terminates with the message "unable to create
temporary directory."

Can anyone advise me how to get StarOffice 4.0 to install on WIndows 95?

could not access the Start support areas, so if anyone has the solution
perhaps they would be kind enough to mail me: tma...@athene.co.uk

Thanks in advance

please check, whether your directory for the temporary files is on a
partition, on which is still enough space free, since our program must
create temporary files in this directory during the installation. If
you use programs, which control the I/O of the system in the
background (on-line virus scanners, De-Installer, etc..) thus you
deactivate these please before the installation. If the error is still
occurring please copy the installation files for your operation system
from the CD into a directory on your hard disk. Start now the SETUP
directly from this directory and install StarOffice from this
location.

I discovered the problem. The setup.exe program requires free space
on the
C-drive.

My C-drive was nearly full; I freed up about 30MB of space, and the
setup
program ran OK, and allowed me to install the program on the D-drive.

Thanks again for your reply; you helped me on the right track.
