Dear customer,

thank you very much for testing our international beta of StarOffice
4.0. At this moment we do not have a final decision, if we can again
deliver a patch for the international beta of StarOffice 4.0. We hope,
to get a final statement up to end of this week.

We know, that this information might not help you in the actual
situation, but at this time we have no further information, sorry.

As soon, as we have more information, we will inform you immediately.

kind regards

Matthias Panczyk
Star Division

I won't pretend that I am not disappointed in your delay of
announcement. However, actual communications about when we may look for
more information is a lot better than nothing. Your silence has been a
most annoying and potentially damaging to your sales aspect of your
conduct towards your [potential] customers.

The advice from Star Office last week that we should by the retail
product was quite annoying since it wasn't available.

Worse was leaving us up in the air about whether we would be able to use
Star Office on March 2. A statement that expressed much of what your
current message would have ben received with a lot of unhappiness but at
least we would know where we were and could have detached ourselves from
any dependance on Star Office since we would have known that it would not
be available for a while. As it was, rather than spending a little time
all week finding and converting my SO 4 files to other formats, I had to
spend some time Saturday taking care of this.

You have certainly lowered my expectations that you are a company that
thinks about its customers. I've known worse but frankly not many are
this bold about ignoring the customers - there are a few. You will have
to do some work to regain my trust and others. The fineness of your
product may help. However, I'm more likely to demand a money-back or
free trial period to assure that the problems in Beta II have been
fixed. I lost considerable mail at one period because of the nature of
the program's crashing. I tried to report this but my posts got lost.
This plus your disregard of your customer's feelings and giving timely
warnings about the product 'disappearing' for a while until you decide
what you can do, make me wonder whether I will be able to trust you to
fix my problems (the ones due to defects in your product) if I buy the
product.
