Help. I just upgraded my RH 5.2, Kernel 2.2.7 to kernel 2.2.12.
Everything went well (I installed glibc-2.1.2 and glib-1.2.3 before
the upgrade). I rebooted several times and everything worked fine
(except SO 5.1). I decided to try to get StarOffice 5.1 working under
the kernel with Glibc-2.1.2. I ran the soprep script as per the SO 5.1
instructions. Soprep asked me to run gldrinst and I did. Things
appeared to go OK so I rebooted. After the kernel loaded I got the
following message "Kernel panic: No init found. Try passing init=
option to kernel" and the system froze at this point. Now this is as
far as I can get when I boot. I have a rescue disk so I tried to boot
with it and was able to do so. I mounted the linux drive (/dev/sdb6)
and tried to find something obviously wrong. I can't. What does the
soprep and gldrinst do that trashed my init? And how can I fix/undo it
short of re-installing?
Thanks,
