StarOffice browser crashes

I've just installed so5.1 on linux 2.2.12. All appears well EXCEPT the
browser crashes, and brings down X with it. I sometimes can get it to
pull up the SO homepage by clicking on the little house on the tool bar.
But any other url crashes it, and X.
