Does SO allow offline news reading and sig files?

Hi,
I've selected each of my subscribed newsgroups to save the contents
locally, but when reading news articles I still have to download them
from the server.
Are there any other settings that I need to change so that I can
download the article bodies as well as the headers?

Also, is there an option for automatically attaching a signature to
e-mail and news postings?

I do have the same problem with emails. The message contents of the
mails will only load when I'm online. Don't know how to change that
behavior. :-(

Yes! Choose "Properties" from the context menu of the news-group.
Choose the flag: Content and mark "save messages locally". The same
settings are needed for email handling.

Use the "insert signature" from the toolbar. Or use the "auto-text"
feature.
