I'm not sure whether this marriage took place or not. But some past shi'a scholar did believed in this marriage. They believed that certain circumstances forced Imam Ali(a) to accept the proposal of Caliph Umar.
this is just confusion of same name. There was not such problem here. Ali a.s was forced to return Umm e Kalthoom bint e Abu Bakar as she came with her mother Asma bint e Umees. The girl which was given to marriage to Umer was Um e Kalthoom bint e Abu bakar
Firstly, you are doing injustice to sunnis by accusing umer of marrying a girl who is by relation his great grand daughter which is INCEST. Secondly, you are striking the imamate of Mawla Ali (a.s.) by accusing him of allowing an unlawful marriage. Thirdly, I can guarantee you that there is no credible evidence in early shia literature which perceives marrying one's great grand daughter lawful; and even ethically humans don't mate in such relations, dogs do.
