Hi China Barbie, mine was last year at my birthday! It was absolutely big fun. I always wanted to do that and it was really liberating to do what I never was allowed to do as a kid. So much fun to grab with your hands in the cake! In the end it was all over my face and clothes but I liked it, although I had the smell of cream in my nose for days ha ha. And I had to bring my clothes to the drycleaning but it was worth it. I would do it again anytime! :-)

Of course, about a month ago, the first adult cake smash (in recent memory anyhow) went viral. Those pictures ended up on Good Morning America! Well dangit! What a bummer! Every time a friend shared another adult cake smash session on my Facebook timeline, I was more frustrated. I needed something unique.

In case you are wondering why I put my watermark on the following images even though I asked someone else to work the camera, here is what the pictures looked like before I edited them. Plus I want to minimize people on the Internet using my face without my permission.

Try a twist on the classic Victoria sponge with this cocoa-rich creation. The sponge cake is super easy to make and we've sandwiched it with whipped double cream, budget-friendly frozen raspberries and raspberry jam for extra flavour.

Simple to make, yet showstoppingly beautiful, this bake makes the most of basic ingredients and is a great way to use up any caramel sauce or dulce de leche you have lurking in the cupboard. One for the sweet-toothed!

We love a traybake, and this one is packed with plenty of zesty flavour. Coarsely grated courgettes and ground up pistachios make it beautifully moist, yet light in texture. Drizzle over lemony icing and lemon curd for a fuss-free decorative touch.

Baking for the gin lover in your life? What better way to celebrate than with this incredible cake. Believe it or not, we've infused the actual cake batter with gin, tonic water and crushed juniper berries for a uniquely grown-up flavour. Decorate with cucumber ribbons, lime wedges and lemon sherbets and get set to impress.

Coffee, chocolate and hazelnut work in blissful harmony in this indulgent birthday bake, filled with a rich espresso buttercream and topped with a silky dark chocolate ganache. Finish with a simple scattering of toasted, chopped hazelnuts and get ready to light those candles.

Dust off that bundt tin and roll up your sleeves to create this beautiful bake, worthy of any birthday. It's the ideal recipe to use up overripe bananas, finished with an irresistible silky smooth peanut and caramel topping.

Chrysten and her friends were vacationing in Maine and Tavana, her BFF booked a shoot with me for her while they were here. I was about 3 weeks from my own 40th birthday, so I felt like I was just one of the girls, celebrating along with them.

They showed up dressed just like babies do when they have their first birthday cake smash photoshoots, complete with tutus and tiaras! Also toting wine, balloons and decorations, and a perfect cake to top it all off. I love the pink, gold, and white theme. They rocked it!!!!

Over the past few years baby's first birthday smash cake photo shoots have become all the rage. And like anything that becomes popular, many variations come to be. I couldn't be more in love with Rachel's adult smash care photo shoot!

Hey guys,

I need a cake that will feed about 50 people for a multi-adult birthday party that's western themed. I looked in the gallery but there seems to be a fine line between an adult looking western cake and a 3 year old birthday western cake (of course, I mean absolutly NO offense to the cakes in the gallery!!) and I was wondering if you guys could give me some fresh ideas?

Thanks for any help you can give!!

Have this in my "gonna make some day" file. I found it at www.edithmeyer.com, suppose to be a wedding cake, but thought it was a good idea to start with and could be modified/personalized for other occassions.

Is this a cake for a men and women? Here's one to get inspired by. Change the color of the cake to beige/taupe/tan family; eliminate the funky tappits and add more horeshoes around the sides; Pink rope bordes, brown and pink gum/fon cowgirl hat on side of bottom tier; boot color in brown and cake color.

You could get a more "elegant" (wedding-ish) look with a color palatte of tans, creams and browns. Rope borders are nice, and what about a wooden-textured look to one of the tiers? You could do another tier that looked like hand-tooled leather/cowboy boot effect. Maybe one tier could have a "branded" look (darker designs imprinted on the background)?

To me, things that have a "cartoonish" effect (such as some cowhide designs) seem more child-like. But if the party is more of a family-style "hootenanny" in a barn, the cartoon stuff should go over just fine.
