Macromedia Studio was a suite of programs designed for web content creation designed and distributed by Macromedia. After Adobe's 2005 acquisition of Macromedia, Macromedia Studio 8 was replaced, modified, and integrated into two editions of the Adobe Creative Suite family of software from version 2.3 onwards. The closest relatives of Macromedia Studio 8 are now called Adobe Creative Suite Web Premium.

Core applications from Macromedia Studio have been merged with Adobe Creative Suite since CS3, including Flash, Dreamweaver, and Fireworks. Some Macromedia applications were absorbed into existing Adobe products, e.g. FreeHand has been replaced with Adobe Illustrator. Director and ColdFusion are not part of Adobe Creative Suite and will only be available as standalone products. The final version of Macromedia Studio released include:

Adobe Creative Suite 3 (CS3) was announced on March 27, 2007; it introduced universal binaries for all major programs for the Apple Macintosh,[19] as well as including all of the core applications from Macromedia Studio and Production Studio.

CS3 included several programs, including Dreamweaver, Flash Professional, and Fireworks that were developed by Macromedia, a former rival acquired by Adobe in 2005. It also included Adobe OnLocation and Adobe Ultra that were developed by Serious Magic, also a firm acquired by Adobe in 2006.

In addition to many of the products formerly part of the Creative Suite (one product, Fireworks, was announced as having reached the end of its development cycle),[56] Creative Cloud also offers subscription-exclusive products such as Adobe Muse[57] and the Adobe Edge family,[57] Web-based file and website hosting, Typekit fonts, and access to the Behance social media platform.[38] The new CC versions of their applications, and the full launch of the updated Creative Cloud service, was announced for June 17, 2013. New versions with major feature updates have been released regularly, with a refresh of the file formats occurring in October 2014. Adobe also announced that it would continue to offer bug fixes for the CS6 products so that they will continue to run on the next versions of Microsoft Windows and Apple OS X.[58] However, they have said there are no updates planned to enable CS6 to run in macOS Catalina.[59]

One other note. I made an error in testing the earlier version of Compressor (4.4.4) in that I had other applications running while I was timing the test. Since Compressor actually uses a background process to compress media, the more applications that are running, the slower the background process will run.

To switch from HEVC 8-bit to HEVC 10-bit, change the Profile from Main to Main 10. This also means that compression is not hardware accelerated, resulting in much longer compression times. The benefit to HEVC 10-bit is that it preserves the highlight detail in HDR media.

The short answer is, yes, an i7 makes that big a difference. The longer answer is that I did not realize the significant performance improvement an i7 makes on media handling when I bought this system. Going forward, I would not buy an i5 again, even though it is much less money.

Adobe Media Encoder is a video and audio media processing program that enables you to convert a file from its current type into another one. It is a tool included in Adobe Creative Cloud or Adobe Creative Suite. Adobe Media Encoder (AME) works in cooperate with other Adobe programs like Adobe After Effects (AE), Adobe Premiere Pro (PP), Adobe Audition, Adobe Character Animator, as well as Adobe Prelude.

Keep in mind that the principle reason for using HEVC is to decrease the file size of the compressed file. Not all applications currently support HEVC (H.265) and, for the next several months, anything going to social media should be H.264.

The Encoding panel monitors the progress of all current encoding jobs. This panel shows a video playback window displaying frames of the encoding media. There is also a blue progress bar showing the level of completion your video is at.

The preset browser allows you to find a preset that best fits the destination of your final video. These presets allow you to optimize your video for a wide range of screens, from social media platforms to designated mobile or broadcast devices. Additionally, you can also create your own ingest presets to use with Premiere Pro.

Once your video is inside of the queue, go to the preset panel and find the desired preset you want for your video. Drag that over to the queue and you will see the preset show up below your queue. You can continue this process for however many different formats you need for that video. This is particularly helpful when you want to optimize transcode videos for different social media formats.
