So I recently learned that playing with your audio turned way up makes hearing footsteps so much easier. It's like turning the audio up actually allows you to hear footsteps that you wouldn't otherwise hear. When I have my audio so loud, I can hear people walking from like 30 meters away, through walls, over ambient sounds, over my own walking audio - it's a complete requirement if you want to hear them before they hear you. It helps with hearing other things as well, such as hearing vehicles when their audio is super faint and far off.
Is this just how most people play the game, and put up with it? Or am I wrong and most folks just play where it's comfortable but at a disadvantage? What about in pro play where they need that competitive advantage, or at least to be on equal playing field as others playing with max audio - do they just play 12 hours a day blasting their ears out?
I'm clearly more sensitive to the audio than some friends of mine. They claim to not have any audio issues, but they're capable of hearing sounds very far away. I think they've got it turned up high too but are just less sensitive to the high audio.
The problem occurs when i power off the headset, then plug in the cable to run in wired mode. The headset turns on, but instead of the voice prompt, i get two quick boop sounds. From there the general functionality of the headset remains, I can hear audio and use the mic, but the headset is not picked up by iCue, so i can't change Lighting or EQ settings and i can't run firmware updates.
