Theepic poems written during the rise of Portugal and Spain on the global stage often dealt with topics quite unimaginable to the likes of Virgil or Homer. These poems reveal the astounding opportunities for upward social mobility and self-promotion afforded by broader access to print and the vast amount of knowledge and material wealth accrued through maritime exploration. Iberian poets of the period were quite cognizant of their ventures into uncharted territory, and that awareness informed their literary journeys.
The War Trumpet features nine substantial essays that expand our understanding of Iberian Renaissance epic poetry by posing questions seldom raised in relation to poems such as La Araucana, Os Lusadas, Carlo famoso, El Bernardo, Arauco Domado, Espejo de paciencia, and Felicissima Victoria, among others. Particularly compelling are questions concerned with early modern understandings of the natural world, the practice of poetic imitation, the discipline of cartography, or the reception of Petrarchism in the newly established viceroyalties of the New World. Fostering a greater appreciation of the intersection between poetry, war, and exploration, The War Trumpet sheds light on the transformative changes that took place during the period of Iberian expansion.
"This collection presents a fresh and lasting contribution to the study of Iberian epic. The War Trumpet overcomes longstanding suppositions of Iberian belatedness with respect to literary advances in the early modern era, considering epic poetry in relation to maritime exploration, scientific inquiry, and proto-modern tactics for warfare."
"The War Trumpet is a valuable addition to the growing corpus of Iberian epic studies that has made possible the task of revising the history of colonialism in the Americas. By making new ideas available to scholars and to readers in general, this collection gives attention to the cultural production of Iberian authors at several historical moments, while also offering unique insight into the models of colonization in diverse geographical areas."
We recreated the original 1976 Hollywood recording, doing our very best to capture the energy and excitement of that ground-breaking soundtrack. The transcribing, arranging, and project management consumed an entire Xmas break for me. Bringing the team together and seeing the adrenaline rush of excitement as this built, was truly special.
Cheesy late-70s funky disco taken too seriously; this piece was just itching to be hammed up and some trumpet ego exercised. But there certainly are some jazzy chords and dramatic accents to capture attention.
What I liked the most about this collab was that none of my collaborators were even the slightest bit aware of this stuff, but took a leap of faith and trusted me with it anyway. The result far exceeded my expectations.
I traveled interstate with my webcam and recording equipment to record my Dad playing this clarinet solo as well as the rest of the reed section. The one and only recording of Dad and I playing together, so we did it in style as a full big band.
The beauty of the Bandhub community was that it was just that; a community of people. I pulled together 25 of my favorite people to help me celebrate my 400th Bandhub collab, just weeks before the kiss of death was put on Bandhub. This is a pretty fine level of community participation!
I have enjoyed watching many of your Bandhub collabs. It is a really pity that it has ceased operating. It sounds like the kind of thing that YouTube or Google could get into. They have huge storage facilities and could wear the cost of running this program.
Events are instances that happen for a specific period and require the input of one or more players to finish or partake in the event(s). If you are looking for special events, you can find them on the Special Events page.
Random events have a small chance to occur upon doing hunt, adventure, and working commands. These are the events that are boosted with the festive horse type and potions, and always spawn after the command output. These events can only be triggered from the commands: hunt, adventure, working commands and farm.
Rare. Gives a lootbox to all participating players, with the rarity being determined by the number of participants in the event(Requires the players to press the button or to type "summon" to participate.) (the maximum rarity is edgy). Caps at 20 participants.
Rare. Gives a direct level up to all participating players if the Legendary Boss is defeated. Requires the players to press the button, or to type "time to fight" to participate - the more participants, the higher the chance to defeat the Legendary Boss. Caps at 20 participants.

Once it triggers, the EPIC NPC will show up and will offer the player a special trade. Similar to the god drop events, the first person to press the button or to type the phrase as well as have the necessary items requested will be able to do the trade.
Hidden events are those who are triggered in a specific way, such as enchanting for the enchant event, or opening a lootbox for the lootbox event. These are hidden because they don't appear anywhere in the help command. These events happens instead of the command output.
The player will try to open the lootbox but find that it just will not open despite any attempts. The player will thus be given three choices: Cry, Fight the lootbox, or Use a magic spell you just learned while reading this message.
If the arena was started with slash command, then there will also be a button to boost the arena, which makes it an arena list and the explanation on how that works is below (works the same as in normal commands, but it's not necessary to ping the users).
Gives arena cookies or time cookies as rewards. The more the participants, the more the rewards. The rewards will be given based on the amount of kills a participant has, equating to 1 cookie per kill, plus 3 cookies for just entering the event. You will also gain time cookies if you manage to kill 6+ players. Please keep in mind that the chances to earn a kill is completely random and unaffected by any variable.
Players can also reset their cooldown for the arena by purchasing the Arena Token in the Epic Shop for 8 epic coins and using it with /use arena token. There is no limit to how many arena tokens can be bought but epic consumables have a shared 30 minutes cooldown (with the exception of horse tokens).
When initiating an arena, players can @mention up to 9 people to increase the rewards of the event. This uses the cooldown of everyone mentioned, but each kill gives more cookies! (For example, if 5 people host the event, players will get 5 cookies per kill). The cookies you get for just joining the event also are higher. Since cooldown of every person is used, there is a confirmation where everyone hosting has to agree.
The players who host the arena get some amount of cookies as compensation even if they do not get any kills. Compensation cookie is round [2.5 * number of hosts] for each host. Compensation cookies are not cancelled out if a host gets one or more kill in the arena.
Cookies can be eaten using the command /eat and will give the player XP according to their level. The xp obtained by eating a cookie can be calculated using this formula: round(level^1.45 * 3.5).
If the miniboss was started with slash command, then there will also be a button to boost the miniboss, which makes it a miniboss list and the explanation on how that works is below (works the same as in normal commands, but it's not necessary to ping the users).
When initiating a miniboss, players can @mention up to 9 people to increase the rewards of the event. This uses the cooldown of every person mentioned, but everyone on the list gets the bonus of the person initiating the miniboss list. You can participate in a Boosted Miniboss by using a very high level player to initiate the miniboss list. Some lower TT players may not be able to participate in a boosted list due to the coin cap. Miniboss lists have higher coin reward cap for helpers.
Gives wooden logs as rewards, requires the players to press the button, or to type "cut" to participate. The more participants there are, the more rewards there will be, capping at 20 participants. Results are displayed every 2 hours on the EPIC RPG Official Server. Winners are sorted by horse level and luck, this means that a horse level 40 is likely to win against a level 25, but it's not guaranteed. See the horse page for more information on races.
Every 12 hours, a pet tournament will occur which grants a guaranteed tier increase for the winning pet. Winners are determined by luck and by pet score, and so a pet with a pet score of 1,200 will be more likely to win than a pet with a score of 700 but it is not guaranteed.
Note: There will only be a tournament for a division if at least 50 pets join that division (e.g. if 45 tier V pets join a pet tournament and 70 tier IV pets join a pet join a pet tournament, there will be no tier V pet tournament but there will be a tier IV pet tournament).See the pets page for more information.
The results are posted in #bot-events channel 3 days per week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 18:00 UTC. Players can see when the next event ends after they have registered as well as by checking rpg events. The reward in big arena are also cookies, but there is a chance to win A LOT of them!
