StartupDelayer is a free program tha allows you to configure which programs to start first and which ones to delay when your computer is rebooted. You can set a custom delay for each one, even drag the visual display graph which shows you exactly how your programs are starting and allows you to easily modify the order or adjust delay times.

I use Displayfusion to move windows to certain areas of the screen on open. When Discord opens, for example, DF moves it to my 2nd monitor. Both DF and Discord run at startup, but Discord finishes opening before DF can, meaning Discord never opens on my second display.

If you wish to improve the performance of your system, optimizing the startup programs by removing unnecessary items and utilizing a start-up cleaner utility is going to be helpful. In this guide, we'll explain how you can modify Windows startup programs to make your system run faster.

To get started, the first thing that we recommend doing is cleaning the start-up folder in File Explorer. You can remove the shortcuts of the programs that you do not want to start at startup as well as remove the junk files that you may no longer need.

Windows allows you to prevent apps from booting at startup but if you do not want to take the extreme route, you can simply delay the startup time of the targeted program. We have listed two methods of delaying the load time in Windows. Proceed with the method that suits your situation the best.

You can also use a third-party application to delay the start time for an application. There are several free options available online, but we will be demonstrating the process using the Windows Startup Helper utility.

Alternatively, you can run a startup cleaner utility that can help you view and modify all the programs, services, scheduled tasks, and context menu items that run automatically when you boot into Windows.

In this method, we will be using the Startup cleaner utility of CCleaner. You can proceed with any third-party cleaning app that you prefer, but we recommend CCleaner if you're looking for an all-around app that can effectively clean the junk out of your computer.

This is why we recommend taking some time to identify the programs you longer use and uninstall these apps using the Control Panel. There are also several ways of uninstalling Windows programs in bulk, which might be needed if you have a bunch of unneeded apps installed.

One way to maintain a good system is by optimizing the startup programs. The methods mentioned above should help you do this, in detail. Keeping the startup folder clean will help you avoid startup programs interfering with the system's functioning in the future.

After Windows starts up, it waits about ten seconds before opening your startup programs. This "startup delay" lets your desktop and Windows services finish loading, making everything run a bit smoother. If you have apps you'd rather run immediately, you can do it with a simple Registry hack.

The ten-second delay after Windows starts but before it begins loading startup apps gives the operating system time to load into memory and perform any necessary system tasks before the apps start requesting resources. The Registry hack we're talking about in this article reduces or disables the startup delay, meaning that it applies to all startup apps. There's no way to apply this technique only to specific apps.

Eliminating the startup delay works best on solid-state drives since they load things much quicker. While you can certainly give it a try if you have a traditional hard drive, you might not see much increase in how fast your startup apps load.

Registry Editor is a powerful tool and misusing it can render your system unstable or even inoperable. This is a pretty simple hack, and as long as you stick to the instructions, you shouldn't have any problems. That said, if you've never worked with it before, consider reading about how to use the Registry Editor before you get started. And definitely back up the Registry (and your computer!) before making changes.

Click "OK" and then exit Registry Editor. For the changes to take effect, you'll need to restart your computer. You and any other users should no longer experience the delay forced upon you by Windows.

If you ever want to re-enable this delay because your startup programs are demanding too many resources upon signing in, head back into the Registry Editor and delete the StartupDelayInMSec value by right-clicking it and then clicking "Delete."

Inside you'll find a REG file for disabling the Startup delay in Windows and one for enabling it again. Once extracted, double-click the file you want and accept the prompts asking whether you're sure you want to make changes to your Registry.

These hacks are just the Serialize key exported from our own Registry after we added---or removed---theStartupDelayInMSec value we talked about in the previous section. Running the hack modifies the value in your Registry. If you enjoy fiddling with the Registry, it's worth taking the time to learn how to make your own Registry hacks.

After I installed ESET Smart Security 8.0.319.0 (30 day free trial) on this machine (Windows 10 Pro), it starts up and Shuts-down/Sleeps remarkably slower than before. And, sometimes, the computer does not responding for minutes when it goes to Sleep mode (either manually or automatically when it is left idle for long time) or when I click Shut down button on start menu. Sometimes, it does not resume at all from that states and I have to shut down the pc manually by pressing the power button for seconds.

No, it is not the OS, because it was working normally and smoothly with Windows Defender, before installing ESET SS 8. In addition, I had the same issue in Windows 8.1 Pro before upgrading to Windows 10 Pro. Moreover, it slows down not just the computer Startup but also the computer Shut down and Sleep, and sometimes the system (Windows 10 Pro and Windows 8.1 Pro before upgrading) does not respond at all when it goes to shut down and sleep.

Let's try disabling automatic start of real-time protection and reboot the computer to see if that makes a difference. If so, re-enable it and reproduce the issue with boot logging enabled in Process monitor (for instructions, see hxxp://www.msigeek.com/6231/how-to-enable-system-boot-time-logging-using-process-monitor-tool).Once you have rebooted the computer and saved the log, compress it, upload it to a safe location and pm me the download link.

The list of failed services includes Net Pipe and SQL Server so, whilst it is something that needs to be addressed from a security perspective, I do not believe it is a problem within Eset that is causing the issue

I have now removed SQL Server 2008 R2 and replaced it with SQL Server 2012 (and also removed several other packages which I no longer need or use) and set some of the problem processes to "Delayed Start" (not eset). The PC is now booting ok and all processes start ok

ESET Smart Security 8 supports windows 10. Moreover, I removed it from Windows 8.1 before upgrading to Windows 10. Then re-installed it on Windows 10. In both Windows Systems (8.1 and 10) I faced the same issues.

But I think that this is normal during software development cycle if you are a developer as I guess because you SQL Server. Knowing that ESET SS 8 and NOD32 works fine and smoothly except in Shut down and Sleep modes, which sometimes the system does not respond. Also, it makes the system a little slow on both Startup and Shut down.

I think this is because of Windows 10 Security. May be we have to change some configuration or we have to have newer version of the Process Monitor software. I am waiting for Marcos to replay what to do.

But I think your problem will be solved if you stopped startup scan in schedule tasks if there is a little bit delay (such as 5 to 10 seconds more than usual). I think this causes the delay and it is normal. Moreover, the startup scan is not important if your computer is clean. just run the smart scan for first time when you installed NOD32 and real-time protection manages the rest of time.

But my issue on computer Shut down and Sleep, the delay is remarkably for a long time (measured in minutes) and sometimes It does not respond on sleep mode and I have to shut down my computer by pushing the power button for 5 seconds. this happens some times not always. knowing that my system's hard disk is SSD which should be much more faster in startup and shut down.

Last time when I shut down my computer was around 6 AM. The computer screen turned off but the power and HDD (SSD) drive LEDs was still lighting until around 2 PM. Therefore, I pressed the power button for seconds to turn off my computer improperly.

I think ESET is one of best computer security systems. However, for now, I have to uninstall the trial version from my computer and I shall use Windows Defender with Windows Firewall instead. I shall wait to the next release or version of ESET because this power-off may by crash my computer system and I have many works to do.

The Windows start folder might be known to many users for launching applications on Windows startup. Applications in this folder are launched immediately after the Windows startup. Especially when dealing with network or the GPU, this can cause problems, and therefore a delayed starting behavior is required.

Although not put smiley in your reply its not really helpful and in case of external programs for example google drive where the file is only available after google drive has started not even the fastest computer is fast enough as this always takes more time then starting keepass.
