Hey everyone, this is the last email from me this year. The next
email will be from the new leaders for next year. It has been a great
year and I hope all of you feel the same way. I have enjoyed meeting
each and everyone of you and working with all of you. You are so
passionate and caring and put alot of hard work into STAND. It has
been a priviledge and a honor to serve as the chapter's president this
year. I know for a fact I could not have done it without all of your
help.
We raised$1,175 for Genocide Intervention Network and planned--
Peace
Day, Darfur Fast, Screened The Lost Boys of Sudan, had a refugee come
speak Abu Asal, hosted our second annual Human Right Art exhibit, put
on a Benefit Concert as well as we screened Sand and Sorrow. I hope
all these events were as enjoyable and educational for you as they
were for me.
Outside of our chapter, all of the chapters came together and
accomplished plenty of things. So far 22 states and 58 universities
have divested. Stand continues to grow with over 700 chapters and 100
international chapters in places like Sierra Leone and the UK. The
DarfurFast that all the chapters participated in raised over $125,000
for civilian protection ($3 protect 1 woman for a year) and President
Bush signed into law SADA!
So, as you can see, we, as students, are making steady change and
steady progress to ending the genocide. But there is still more to be
done, the killing is not over yet. So please continue educating
yourselves and others.
We have some shirts left over and if you would like a shirt, they
are are $10, give me a call
573 529-1232 or email me and we can meet
somewhere. And lastly we have some leadership positions open for next
school year. If you are interested, I encourage you to apply. The form
is under files on the google group.
ps: If you are graduating and not interested in recieving emails from
STAND, you can edit your membership and unsubscribe and not recieve
email. Although, I would encourage you to stay envolved and find a
local chapter of STAND, Save Darfur, or GI Net.
Thanks again, it was a pleasure being your president,
Nadege Uwase
