Perhaps now that Syria is, like the people we lie and call ‘palestinians’, is paying Syrians to do the totally islamic thing, and murder Jews, and commit suicide.  Now this is not nice thing to say, but I am curious.  Tell me Pope, do the muslims still go to hell for committing suicide, even though they are doing you a favor while they commit suicide, and killing Jews in Israel?  Do you give them some kind of a “writ” of pardon?

1. Assad’s Help Wanted Sign: $25,000 Reward For Being Killed by IDF

by Tzvi Ben Gedalyahu

The Syrian regime paid poor farmers in the north $1,000 to travel to the border at the Golan Heights border and challenge the IDF and another $25,000 to their families if they were killed, according to the opposition Reform Party of Syria.

t

The death toll in Sunday’s confrontation was reported at 23 by the government-controlled Syrian media, and the IDF is on high alert for more attempts on Monday to infiltrate into Israel.

The Reform party said that farmers, suffering from a severe drought, make less than the average Syrian salary of $200 a month, one-fifth of the amount of money they received to demonstrate and try to cross the border.

“It is obvious, with this action, [Syrian President Bashar] Assad wants to divert the attention of the world away from his own massacres and brutality that resulted in some 70 deaths yesterday [Saturday] and about 30 today in Jisr al-Shoghou,” the party's website said

The opposition party also expects more clashes so that Assad can “stand tall again in the eyes of the regime's supporters whose morale has taken quite a beating the last three months because of the violence perpetrated by Assad against unarmed civilians.”

The party’s platform specifies the strategic Golan Heights, captured by Israel in its defensive Six Day War in 1967, as part of Syria, but also believes in “peaceful negotiations.”

Its website added, “For Assad, winning through peace means also losing the war against his own people.”

More than 1,500 people have been killed and another 35,000 arrested or harassed by Assad’s forces in the eight-week uprising that has escalated from demands for reform to demanding his ouster as president.

2. The Day After: Golan Border with Syria - Quiet but Tense

by Hillel Fendel

After the IDF accused the Syrian military of doing nothing to stop yesterday’s attempts to cross the border into Israel, the Syrians are now preventing civilians from nearing the border.

Day-long rioting yesterday at the Syrian-Israeli border near Majdal Shams in the Golan Heights led to some 20 civilian Syrian deaths, according to Syrian reports. IDF sources say these claims are exaggerated, and that at least eight people were killed when their Syrian co-rioters ignited land mines by throwing firebombs.

Specifically, the IDF reports that a Molotov cocktail thrown by Syrian demonstrators towards IDF forces on Sunday caused a brushfire in Syrian territory, leading to the explosion of four mines on the Syrian side of the Quneitra crossing in the Golan.

Syrian police and forces erected barricades at two points near the border today, preventing civilians from nearing the border.

Signal to Druze
Israel, for its part, is attempting to signal to the Druze population in northern Israel that it will not be worth its while to join forces with the Syrians – as they did yesterday evening, when they threw rocks at Israeli forces. The signal is in the form of a warning that Israelis will not be allowed to visit Druze villages over the course of the Shavuot holiday this Wednesday, “for fear of rock-throwings.” Such an edict would shut down the Druze tourism industry, on which many local villagers count for their daily bread.

IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Benny Gantz toured Majdal Shams and nearby areas yesterday. He met there with Northern District Commander Maj.-Gen. Gadi Eisencott and other top district officers.

The area is quiet today, although some Syrians have gathered at what is known as the Hill of Yells, and Israeli forces are on the alert.

The pro-Palestinian Syrian rioters and would-be infiltrators were marking Naksa Day - their loss in the Six Day War of 1967 - by attempting to charge the borders and enter Israel. A similar attempt on Nakba - "Catastrophe" - Day, the date marking Israel’s independence, scored more success, as some 150 Syrians stormed the border and spent a few hours in Israel. They continue to vow that they will liberate the entire Holy Land from Jewish rule.

What this means, according to Sabri Saidam, secretary-general of the Fatah Revolution Council is total conquest of Israel. Saidam recently wrote about “Palestinian refugees outside and inside the homeland” who “seek a just peace but will not turn to it until the occupation is gone.”

3. Refugees Are Palestinian Authority’s ‘Nuke Weapon,’ Says PA

by Tzvi Ben Gedalyahu

Foreign Arabs who are classified by the United Nations as refugees are the “nuclear weapon” of the Palestinian Authority, according to PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas’s information technology advisor. He is quoted in an article on the official PA website WAFA.

The “nuclear weapon” refers to Arab plans to stage a massive march of hundreds of thousands of foreign Arabs on Israel’s borders. Sunday’s “Naksa Day” border demonstrations were generally considered a failure, and only several hundred Syrian Arabs, reportedly paid to appear at the Golan Heights border, showed up. Lebanon declared its border a closed military a zone, effectively preventing an attempt to cross into Israel.

The article in WAFA, reported and translated by Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI), was written by Sabri Saidam, who is the secretary-general of the Fatah Revolution Council. The Fatah movement is headed by Abbas.

The term “refugees” refers to approximately five million Arabs, most of them living in Jordan, Syria, Iraq and Lebanon and who are children, grandchildren and great grandchildren of 550,000 Arabs who left Israel in the War for Independence in 1948 and the Six Day War in 1967.

Most of them fled with the encouragement of Arab armies, whose leaders assured them they would return quickly after the expected annihilation of Israel.

Abbas has demanded that any future Palestinian Authority state be established on condition that all of the foreign Arabs be allowed to immigrate to Israel, a move that would in effect reduce Jews to a small minority and eliminate Israel as a “Jewish state.”

Abbas’ has refused to accept Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s demand to recognize Israel as a “Jewish state.” Doing so would create a built-in obstacle to the logic of Israel’s allowing foreign Arabs to flood the country.

Saidam wrote that the march of May 15, the secular date of Israel’s Independence Day that Arabs called the “Nakba,” or “catastrophe,” revealed the “new Palestinian ‘nuclear weapon,’ more powerful than Israel's entire arsenal.”

The May 15 marches also were relatively small, but Saidam claimed, “The Palestinians have begun moving their new, quality 'nuclear weapon' across the borders  – while the massive arsenal of nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons, cluster and phosphorous [bombs], and the entire spectrum of WMDs rests in Israel's storage facilities, nuclear reactors, and laboratories, paralyzed by the footfall of a Palestinian youth….

"The new Palestinian nuclear weapon is the refugees outside and inside the homeland – [who seek] a just peace but who will not turn to it until the occupation is gone – as well as others whom the occupation has made miserable, whose hopes and dreams are hobbled by the occupation, and who have been filled with the stories of the homeland [told them by their] grandmothers and grandfathers.”

The expression "nuclear weapon" is out of place in the context of a" just peace" until it is realized that this peace eliminates Israel.

4. Civil War Threatens Heavily-Armed Sinai Area South of Israel

by Tzvi Ben Gedalyahu

Civil war may break out among heavily-armed Bedouin tribes in the Sinai, which has become a lawless area since the Egyptian uprising this year.

Violence in the volatile Sinai Peninsula, directly south of Gaza and bordering the Eilat-Gaza route, could bring more instability to Israel’s southern border, plagued for years by slave trade, infiltration, drug and weapons trafficking by Bedouin and Hamas terrorists.

Egyptian sources warned Sunday that two rival Bedouin tribes, each accusing the other of murder and kidnapping, are headed for war, according to the Bethlehem-based Ma'an news agency.

The BBC earlier this week also quoted local Bedouin saying that civil war looms. Egyptian police have left the area since the ouster of Hosni Mubarak, whose Sunni authorities restricted Bedouin from following Muslim Sharia practice and teachings.

An arms dealer said business is brisk as Bedouin arm themselves for self-protection. Branding a new Kalashnikov rifle, one water engineer told a BBC journalist, "Before the revolution I never needed one, but now I do. To protect my family. It's getting much more dangerous here."

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu told the Cabinet this week that the Sinai Peninsula is a literally a powder keg, where smuggling explosives and advanced weapons from the Sinai into Gaza has increased. Hamas is importing on average a rocket a day, security sources said.

They previously have said that Hamas and allied terrorists possess advanced anti-aircraft missiles that can bring down commercial planes, which have changed routes to avoid coming too close to Gaza.

5. Arab Truckdriver to be Charged w/ Murder, and Possibly Terrorism

by Hillel Fendel

The Arab truckdriver who ran down 18 people and killed one on Naqba Day will be charged with murder. No decision has been taken yet on whether he will be considered a terrorist.

The Magistrates Court in Petach Tikva ruled yesterday that the 23-year-old resident of Kafr Kasm, Isa Islam, will be charged with one count of murder and several counts of attempted murder. Kafr Kasm is an Israeli-Arab city near Rosh HaAyin, adjacent to the Green Line armistice lines set in 1949.

This past May 15 - which Arabs in Israel and the PA mark as the Day of Catastrophe for the State of Israel's establishment on that date - Islam went on an apparent rampage in which he crashed his truck into a bus and several cars over the course of about a mile in southern Tel Aviv, ending at the gates of an elementary school.

No clear proof was offered that the attack was planned, but at least one eyewitness said he made eye contact with the driver and saw clearly that it was pre-meditated. A journalist covering the event said cynically, “I never saw a mile-long accident before…” Some witnesses claimed to have heard him yell "Allah Akhbar", meaning Allah is great, a Jihad cry.

Killed in the attack was Aviv Morag, 29, of Givatayim, who was to have been married next month.

Despite all, it has not yet been determined whether Islam will be charged with committing a terrorist attack. He has denied attempting to commit an attack, including during the reenactment of the incident, claiming that he lost control of his vehicle because of a flat tire.

Islam will be indicted in the Tel Aviv District Court on Thursday.

6. Over 30,000 in Largest-Ever Israel Day NYC Parade

by Gil Ronen and Fern Sidman

Over thirty thousand people took part in the annual Celebrate Israel Parade in New York City Sunday. This is the largest number of participants ever in the parade, which has been held every year since 1964, and normally averages 20,000 participants.

Email readers: click HERE and scroll down to view video.

The parade’s grand marshal was Israel’s Minister of Public Diplomacy and Diaspora, Yuli Edelstein. With Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Israel’s ambassador in Washington, DC., Michael Oren, at his side, he led the parade down Manhattan's 5th Avenue past hundreds of thousands of onlookers.

Participants included Rep. Jerrold Nadler and City Council Speaker Christine Quinn, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, as well as leaders of the Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC), representing Jewish communities. Numerous Jewish groups and communities were represented in the parade.

Approximately 50 pro-Palestinian apologists representing an alliance of left-wing politcal factions and Islamist movements along with other anti-Zionist agitators gathered on 5th Avenue between East 58th Street and 59th Streets to express their antagonism towards Israel. Rolling out banners and posters carrying the same slogans used in previous years, the protestors accused Israel of "ethnic cleansing" of the Palestinian population and called for the establishment of a state called Palestine with boundaries running from the Jordan River to the Mediterrean sea, nullifying Israel's existence.

“It is exciting and important to see tens of thousands of Americans marching down the avenue and supporting Israel, especially in days in which there are attempts to delegitimize the state,” said Edelstei

Coretta James of the Christians United For Israel organization, who stood on the sidelines enjoying the parade, has this message for President Obama: "I'm a black Christian woman who loves Israel and what she represents to the free world. I roundly condemn, in the strongest of terms, President Obama's arrogant and hostile posture towards the only stable democratic ally we have in the Middle East. How dare he even entertain the ludicrous notion of Israel retreating to the clearly indefensible 1967 borders? It is clear as day that this president would love nothing more than to see Israel destroyed by her enemies."

7. MK Danon: President Obama, Take Your Hands Off Jerusalem

by Fern Sidman, INN NY Correspondent

Serving as keynote speaker at the 34th annual Ateret Cohanim/Jerusalem Chai dinner on June 1st, Deputy Speaker of the Knesset Danny Danon assumed an obdurate posture on the recent dramatic shift in US foreign policy as it pertains to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

In a direct reference to President Obama’s controversial address to the State Department on May 19th, in which he called on Israel to retreat to the ‘1967 boundaries’ [the 1949 armistice lines –ed.] in a gesture towards the creation of an independent Palestinian state, Mr. Danon declared, “President Obama: Take your hands off Jerusalem, take your hands off of Israel.”

Speaking from the dias at the Terrace On the Park hall in Flushing, New York, Mr. Danon’s remarks were enthusiastically received by his audience of over 500, as he said that “President Obama is ignoring reality when he attempts to make a distinction between the objectives of Hamas and al-Qaeda. They are one and the same and we in Israel know very well that you cannot appease terrorists, but rather, you must fight terrorists.”

Exhorting the US president to focus on a concrete plan of action that will confront “Iran’s nuclear capability” instead of pressuring Israel into making suicidal territorial concessions, Mr. Danon praised the US for undertaking the Navy SEAL mission that resulted in the killing of al-Qaeda mastermind, Osama bin Laden. “Israel should be doing as the US has done in terms of fighting terror and we can learn an excellent lesson from this dramatic and courageous mission.”

Concerning the vote at the United Nations in September on the establishment of a Fatah-Hamas run state, Mr. Danon said, “I am not afraid of what will happen in September. By using the UN to push for a state, the Palestinians are in violation of the Oslo accords. When the UN will decide unilaterally to vote for the creation of a Palestinian state, we will immediately declare independence throughout Judea and Samaria.”

Mr. Danon spoke of the historic tradition that served as common denominator amongst previous Israeli Prime Ministers as it pertained to maintaining the holy city as the eternal capital of the Jewish people. “David Ben Gurion moved the Knesset from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. Levi Eshkol did not differentiate between East and West Jerusalem or who lived there before 1967 and who lived there after that,” he said, adding that, “80% of Israelis polled are against compromise of any form on the status of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.”

Quoting former Israeli Prime Minister Yitzchak Shamir, Mr. Danon offered a sanguine perspective on Israel’s future. “Mr. Shamir has often said that we need three things to win this war. The first is ‘ideology’ and that is represented through our belief in and adherence to the precepts of the Torah. The second thing is ‘organization’ and we have that here in Ateret Cohanim. The third thing is a steadfast commitment to overcome all adversity and to prevail against those who seek out destruction and, thank G-d, we possess this magnificent trait.”

Founded by IDF veteran Matityahu HaCohen Dan, Ateret Cohanim’s mission is predicated upon the fulfillment of a generations-old dream of rebuilding and securing Jerusalem as the eternal capital of Israel. Ateret Cohanim/Jerusalem Chai has succeeded in re-establishing vibrant Jewish communities that are centered around yeshivot and other educational institution in the Kotel Quarter, also known as the Muslim and Christian quarters of the holy city.

Representing the Jewish residents of the Old City of Jerusalem at this year’s dinner was Chaya Shira (Frimer) Tanami who lives in the Yemenite Village. With her exceptional courage, Mrs. Tanami and others like her exemplify a pioneering spirit that serves as a beacon of light and hope for the future of Jerusalem. The recipients of the Bonei Yerushalayim award included Shlomo and Naomi Min-Ha Har Gottfried of Maalot Dafna, Jerusalem, Henoch and Tova Messner of Monsey, New York and Nessem and Lynne Tammam of Great Neck, New York.

Mr. Tammam said, “The first part of the word in Hebrew is ‘yerusha,’ meaning inheritance, and the last part of the word is ‘shalom.’ We have come to the city of our inheritance in peace and by claiming our inheritance, given to us by G-d, we will earn the respect of the world and the Arabs and in the end, peace will follow.”

On the other hand, he observed, “The 70 or more Jewish families in the Old City must live with 24 hour heavy security. What kind of life is that? They risk their lives every single day in order to make it possible for our children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren to live there, one day, please G-d, in peace.”

Having purchased a property in the Old City called Beit Schechter, Henoch and Tova Messner, also recipients of the Bonei Yerushalayim award, recalled its glorious past. “This property was named after its original owners who lived there from the 1880s until the 1930s when they were driven out by Arab rioters during the infamous pogroms.” said Mr. Messner.

Prior to making the purchase they sought the counsel of HaRav Yosef Shalom Elyashiv, shlita

“When we asked Rav Elyashiv if he thought this cause was important enough for us to become involved with, he was surprised that a Jew could even ask this question. He felt that it was such an imperative thing to do that he gave us his full endorsement and encouraged us to get others involved,” said Mr. Messner, adding that, “there is nothing more natural than a Jew buying a house in Jerusalem. The students of the Vilna Gaon did the same 200 years ago and Ateret Cohanim is at the forefront of continuing this special work today.”

Mr. Messner said that, “The designation of ‘East’ and ‘West’ Jerusalem was created for the purpose of removing Jews from half of the city which they once owned and inhabited before they were forcefully removed. In fact, when the Schechter family lived in their home which we redeemed, the Jews were the predominant majority in that part of the city.” Describing the Torah obligation of every Jew to reclaim Jerusalem, he said, “The halacha is that one is allowed to acquire a non-Jewish owned house in Jerusalem on Shabbos if it becomes available and should not wait until after Shabbos because the deal may no longer be available then. This demonstrates the importance of this mitzvah.”

8. Fogel Baby-Stabber ‘Proud of What I Did’

by Gil Ronen

Amjad Awad (18), one of two Arabs who savagely slaughtered five members the Fogel family March 11, said Sunday that he has no regrets for what he did.

“I am proud of what I did and will accept any punishment I receive, because I did it all for Palestine,” he said after his arraignment at a Samaria military court.

Hakim Awad (17) and Amjad Awad of Awarta were formally charged with five counts of intentionally causing death – the military court’s equivalent of murder charges. They were also charged with stealing weapons, breaking and entering and conspiracy to commit a crime.

The charge sheet describes how they entered the Fogel family’s home in Itamar, surprising two children, Yoav (11) and Elad (4). Amjad led Yoav to another room and stabbed him to death there, while Hakim tried to strangle Elad. Amjad then returned and stabbed Elad with the two knives he held in his hands.

They then proceeded to the parents’ bedroom, where a struggle developed. Amjad managed to slash Rabbi Ehud Fogel to death and then stabbed his wife Ruthie in the neck and back. Hakim shot and killed her.

They then heard the three-month old baby girl, Hadas, crying, and stabbed her to death too.

The Military Prosecution has yet to announce whether it will ask for the death sentence for the murderers. Even if it does, the chances that such a sentence will be given and carried out are slim.

The Itamar Yeshiva, where Rabbi Fogel taught, is expanding as a Zionist response to the murders.

Israel has said that murders like the Fogel massacre, while not known to have been directed by a specific terrorist group, are incited by the PA
