Hello,

For a first project I'd like to try Saragossa by Benito Pérez Galdós. I've found both of these:

Project Gutenberg: https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/47769
Scans: https://archive.org/details/saragossa0000unse/mode/2up

Happy to keep looking if that scan doesn't work, but otherwise, would this one be open?

Thanks,
Michael

Great, that one would be a good start.

You can cut the translator's introduction, it's not interesting. There
is one footnote you'll have to convert to an endnote. The book has a
subtitle, which you must include in the metadata - see the manual for
how to do that. Otherwise this will be pretty straightforward.

Make sure to read the Standard Ebooks Manual of Style before starting,
as you won't know what to fix if you haven't read the standards. In
particular, please closely review the semantics, high level patterns,
and typography sections:

https://standardebooks.org/manual/latest/4-semantics

https://standardebooks.org/manual/latest/7-high-level-structural-patterns

https://standardebooks.org/manual/latest/8-typography

The step by step guide will take you from start to finish:

https://standardebooks.org/contribute/producing-an-ebook-step-by-step

This page on common issues in older books may be useful:

https://standardebooks.org/contribute/how-tos/common-issues-when-working-on-public-domain-ebooks

Please email often if you have any questions at all. Our standards are
well-established so there is probably already a standard for formatting
whatever problem you've encountered.

When you're ready, email back with a link to your Github repository so
that I can mark you as having started.

Have fun! :)

Sounds good! Just made a repository and working through the guide and guidelines now.

I had a couple of questions:

Aside from that I believe I should be getting rid of these divs and page numbers as well, should I amend the initial commit to do so or just create separate ones for each?

OK, Robin will manage this with Emma reviewing.

The quote is called an epigraph, search the manual for how to style
that. This also means you will add a half title page.

You can remove page numbers in separate commits.
