Should the quotations start with U+2015 (horbar) instead of U+2014 (mdash)? Or is that not worth changing?

Yes, I think so. Our edition of Dubliners was based on a transcription
that used quotes (and the page scans also used quotes). I would accept a
PR to change them to horizontal bars as later editions did that, but
that's a big project.

It would also be a fairly big project for Ulysses. Easy enough to change
any em dash at the start of a <p>, but then we'd have to check internal
em dashes by hand.

There are only 50-60 that are internal on Ulysses, so maybe it wouldn’t be too horrible.

Erin do you have time to take a look at this for Ulysses?

I submitted a pull-request for this in Ulysses. -Frank

I was writing a reply but Frank has beaten me to it :) It looks like you've handled all the dashes following `p`, `p class="continued"` and `span` tags, which as far as I can see was what we needed.

Note that Portrait uses em dashes to introduce dialogue too—presumably we'd like to change that since we're changing this.

Looking at the internal em dashes I also just found one that shouldn't be internal at all: a paragraph break is needed before the dash in the following from chapter 6: `Where is he now?—M’Intosh, Hynes said, scribbling.` I'm a bit busy at the moment but can fix that when I get a chance unless someone else wants to go ahead.

Good catch. I added that paragraph break to the PR.

Thanks! Could you also change the dash following the new `<p>` to a horizontal bar? It's still an em dash seemingly.

Done. Sorry I missed that.

No need to be sorry at all; you're the one helping by making the corrections :) Thanks for doing that.
