And another ... arising from `se modernize-spelling`:
(1) There are a whole host of names of the pattern: "Bit-part", e.g.: Bald-face, Bow-may, Day-dawn, Face-of-god, Fork-beard, Gold-mane, Gold-may, Long-coat, Long-hand, Penny-thumb, Red-beard, Red-coat, Red-wolf, Stone-wolf, Stout-heart, Sun-beam, Sun-burst, Sure-foot, and Yellow-hair.
The problem is that four of these (Long-hand, Red-coat, Sun-beam (VERY frequent), and Sun-burst") all get their hyphens removed by mod-spell. My sense is that in these four names—when they occur as names (i.e. "Sun-beam", but not "sunbeam" when it's a ray of shining sun)—should retain their hyphens. Is that right?
(2) Conversely, "Silver-dale" and "Rose-dale" as places both occur frequently, as does "Burgdale" (sans hyphen) very frequently. My sense here is that the hyphens should come out. Again seeking confirmation.
Thanks again.
