Not sure if this was widely publicised (I certainly didn’t see it) but David Widger apparently passed away in July according to this obituary: https://www.legacy.com/us/obituaries/oleantimesherald/name/charles-widger-obituary?pid=199386672 . For most of us he’ll be a familiar name, and as he was so prolific he even has extra data automatically populated by the Standard Ebooks toolkit when creating a book. He also personally took care of a wide range of errata I’ve reported to Project Gutenberg over the years.

Wow, so sorry to hear that. I wondered why it wasn’t him that responded when I had a couple of things last year. He was always very helpful, and obviously did a tremendous of work. He will be missed for sure.

Sad to hear. I knew he had retired from PG but not that he had passed away.
