SE logo in "read on one page" in chromium browsers

I'm having an odd thing appear in the "read on one page view" in chromium browsers on my linux mint machine.

From Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, in Chromium and Brave:

In Firefox:

Claude tells me that this might be because the image hash `encoding=utf-8` not `charset=utf-8`. It points me to https://www.iana.org/assignments/media-types/image/svg+xml where "charset" is an optional parameter but "encoding" is not, and firefox tolerates this but chromium browsers no longer do? I'm seeing similar issues in android chrome and android ms edge.
